Throughout the year, the Academy has strived to adhere to all state-imposed COVID-19 restrictions. A special sta member was delegated to ensure that the school was a safe environment for all our students and sta . With singular dedication, teachers continuously fostered their students’ talents and taught the entire curriculum. Rosh Chodesh was celebrated, and Amen parties were held. Students even dressed up as farmers and learned about letting farms rest during the upcoming Shmitta year in Israel. Our youngest students thrived as they acquired needed skills, knowledge and opportunities for creativity in a social setting. ARLY ECHILDHOOD 4
5 UNIOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION Skills learned in the kindergarten year are vital for success in elementary school. Children are thrilled to practice and master the aleph bais and its many nekudos, vowels needed in order to read in Hebrew. Kindergarteners also spend the year learning the letters of the alphabet and how to read. The year culminates with a milestone Siyum – the Mesibas Siddur, the presentation of long-awaited siddurim that our students have longingly anticipated. KINDERGARTEN
The enthusiasm for learning was not diminished by the COVID-19 rules that the school diligently followed. The Gedolim Fair was a huge success; every boy in sixth grade shared an oral report and a tri-fold poster on the Gadol they researched. Siyumim were held on many parshiyos and sections of Mishnayos. The Shtieg, Learn, and Master program was a big success and concluded with a celebratory grand event. The Cocoa Club, comprised of boys who come early every morning to learn Mishnayos, also held a well-attended siyum. Second grade boys visited Rebbetzin Esther Mann and had the chance to meet and receive wisdom from this Academy “Bubby.” Third grades conducted a Siyum on Chumash Bereishis and fi fth grades on Chumash Shemos. Talmidim excelled at a Division-wide Yedios Kelalios Chidon. ESHIVA YKETANA 6
The energy fl owing from the Junior High Division culminated in a lively, inspiring Shabbaton at Bertram Inn in Burton, Ohio. The fi nale was a gala celebration honoring those who were unable to celebrate their Bar Mitzvos during COVID-19. During the year, talmidim learned with vigor and used their talents to encourage each other’s enthusiasm for tefi llah, Torah, and much achdus. Mini courses given during General Studies taught boys the basics of woodworking, pottery-making, science, and art. An Evening of Inspiration highlighted the many skills that the boys have mastered. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 7 IGS AND LITTLES AMED TES MELACHOS FAIR
Students spent the year deeply invested in their learning. A grand Spark Chidon was held in the fi nal week of school to celebrate the materials learned. The audience displayed many good characteristics, middos tovos, as they cheered on their classmates’ successes. This year, the annual Bas Mitzvah Joint Party of sixth grade girls focused on the middah of tznius and its practical application in today’s world. In General Studies, students were encouraged to make circuits in science class, create 3D exhibits for book reports, and houses using scaled-down measurements. On June 2, the day the Mask Mandate was lifted in Cleveland, students celebrated the return to more normalcy in the classroom. IRLS GELEMENTARY 8
Yavne has become renown as a school where our girls can fl ourish, grow, and refi ne their talents in a nurturing environment. This year students concentrated on improving their speech towards each other, promoting achdus, and making wise decisions. They held various assemblies depicting the role of Jewish women in history, specifi cally the role of Jewish women in helping to bring the Geulah. A Shabbaton in the Oakwood Campus, “Yavne, it’s your Call,” focused on making good choices. The year’s closing assembly featured inspiring speeches and practical ideas on how to work on our gratitude to Hashem for everything that happens. In General Studies, the national American Patriotism organization sent a Chief Petty O cer from the U.S.Navy to present student Yitti Greenberger with a trophy for her fi rst-place win in an essay contest. This year a high percentage of Yavne students participated in college-level courses. 29 of our 30 graduates will continue their educationin Eretz Yisrael.
