Bhangra and Giddha
History-Bhangra originates from the
Panjab, a province in northern India.
‘Panjab’ means ‘the land of the five
rivers.’ Bhangra itself has been around for
over five hundred years. What is more
disputed, and difficult to define, is the
word ‘Bhangra’ itself.
Origin- Panjab
Significance-The legend has it that it
originated from the ancient ring dance
that was quite dominant in Punjab. The
energy levels in Giddha are the same as
that in Bhangra which is performed by
men in Punjab.
Artist- It was found by brothers Balbir
Singh Khanpur and Dalbir Singh Khanpur
in Birmingham in 1967.
