FINAL DRAFT OUTLINE
Title : Baby Dumping in Malaysia
General Purpose: To Inform
Central Idea : Recognizing the effects and the causes of baby dumping in Malaysia
INTRODUCTION
II. So, basically, baby dumping means the act of irresponsible humans throwing away
the babies at any place without taking care of the babies.
III. According to the statistics of baby dumping cases in Malaysia issued by the
Headquarters of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), a total of 580 babies were found
dumped between the years 2014-2018. This number of cases increase every year
where as much as 100 baby dumping cases have increased to 140 cases in the year
2018.
IV. New Year celebration and Valentine’s Day are known as mating season nowadays
which leads to unwanted pregnancies among youth and obviously, leads to baby
dumping cases which can be easily read in the mass media.
V. The baby dumping case has touched my heart upon seeing the pictures of the baby
being dumped in an inhumane way.
(Transition: Let us begin with the baby dumping cases and their factors)
BODY
The Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan
Azizah Wan Ismail, while launching a baby dumping prevention campaign last
August (2019), stated that 1,010 cases were recorded from 2010 to May 2019, and in
64% of the cases, the babies were found deadThe enrollment rate for primary
education has increased only slightly from an already high enrollment rate of 95.6%
in 2000 to 96.6% in 2013.
A. Unwanted pregnancies have been one of the major causes of baby dumping,
as most of these young ladies are not prepared to take care of the baby plus
the changes that take place with the body and lack of life skills.
B. Men often refuse to take the responsibility when they are claimed to be the
father of the baby.
C. Teenagers who are still studying for instance cannot afford to raise a baby on
their own and for those who come from a poor family, even their parents
cannot help the situation.
(Transition: Now that you know the factor of baby dumping, let us look at the effects.)
II. Do you guys know how bad baby dumping will affect that person? Not only the
individuals, but all the family members and community will get a bad effect too.
A. The effect of baby dumping on individuals is they will experience mental
disorder, depression and guilt. They will always remember the offence that
they have done.
B. When the institution of the family collapsed, harmony in the family also
affected the sprinkle. This case is due to parents feeling ashamed of them.
What they are concerned about is being surrounded by people who have a
bad attitude toward their family.
C. Moreover, this case has affected the image of the surrounding communities.
They would have been embarrassed and disappointed by what happened.
CONCLUSION
I. In conclusion, baby dumping cases will not end without any solution or
intervention from all as we do not want any more babies to die.
II. The youths need to take full control and take maximum care towards
themselves. Everyone has the chance to change themselves.
III. As quoted by Zig Ziglar; ‘’If you don't like who you are and where you are, don't
worry about it because you're not stuck either with who you are or where you
are. You can grow. You can change .You can be more than you are.
IV. I want to ask: Do we, the society, play a good role in handling this issue? or
perhaps we just take this issue as light as feathers since we got nothing to do
with it?.
