"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its
animals are treated."
STRAY ANIMALS
1.Imagine living on the streets, constantly looking for
your next meal and never knowing the feeling of
companionship.
2.Each year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats
are killed every year because shelters are too full.
3.Pets make great companions due to their undeniable
love and compassion for their owners.
4.According to Gail Buchwald, the vice president of the
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals Cares (ASPCA), 'finding the right pet requires
patience and the right connection between owners
and pets, and shelters are the best place to find that
mix.
5.Although pet shops seem like a good source to adopt
dogs.
6.As a result, people should start to adopt pets from
animal shelters to prevent overpopulation and to
start a loving family for dogs that have been
neglected
7.The number of dogs and cats are killed are about 2.7
million because there is not enough space in the
animals shelters for all of the pets
8.Today, I hope to persuade each of you to adopt a
stray pet at a shelter instead of buying from a pet
shop
WHY WE SHOULD ADOPT STRAY
ANIMALS?
The animals in the shelters are generally the rejected pets that
the typical person would not want to adopt.
1 Seen as undesirable due to their mixed breeds, old age, health
issues
Factor that concerns people is that the animals from animal
shelters are bad.
Animal shelter pets consist of strays and also dogs who have
been abused emotionally and mentally by their owners. Their
previous owners couldn’t take care of their pets, or they
changed their mind and decided to not keep their pets
anymore
2 Pet overpopulation is a serious problem
There are too many puppies and kittens being born who are
unwanted
Since they do not have a home, there are no people to take
care of them
3 Breeders and pet trade are major contributors to this crisis
because they bring more puppies and kittens into a world that
doesn’t have enough good homes for all the animals who already
exist.
Puppies and kittens bought from breeders or pet shops are
often taken away from their mother at just a few weeks old,
leaving them sickly, traumatized, and unsocialised.
In April 2020, a law came into force in England banning third-
party commercial sales of puppies and kittens under 6 months
of age.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO SOLVE THIS
PROBLEM?
We, as a community, need to make a difference. We can make
a change. We need this community’s help to decrease the
number of stray and homeless pets in Fresno city and county.
Raise awareness in the community.
Talking to people in the community
can bring about the changes that
will dramatically improve the
welfare of these animals.
Advocate for adopting pets instead of
shopping.
Adopting helps improve their lives
and allows shelters to
accommodate more pets that
need their help.
You can be a sponsor to any shelter place.
Volunteering in rescue centers is a
proactive way to make a huge impact on
the animals.
Fostering is an effective way to help
homeless pets in shelters
BENEFITS FROM ADOPTING
STRAY ANIMALS
There are a lot of benefits if you rescue or adopt a stray
cat at a shelter.
1.You are providing an animal with the second chance
they deserve.
Many have been rescued from horrific circumstances
such as cruelty, neglect and abandonment.
Help to eradicate puppy farms and pet shops.
2. A puppy farm, or mill, is the illegal practice of
breeding puppies for the sole purpose of maximizing
profit, without any regard to the dogs’ health or wellbeing
Can improve your health and make you happier.
3. Various studies have shown that having a pet can
elongate your life, whilst improving your overall happiness
and health.
4. Adopting animals from shelters or stray pets can
save your money. This saves you a lot of money because
you don’t have to pay for the procedures
5. Adopting pets can support spaying and neutering.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I strongly believe that pet adoption can
make our world better because people can change their
life and become kinder and happier only by showing
mercy to animals and being responsible.
People should avoid buying pets for the purpose of their
appearance of the breed.
Thus, I have explained my decision to adopt a stray pet,
and I hope that many people will do the same.
