Audiation Magazine is a global monthly music publication
which is free to read online and available for on demand
print purchases. We feature all styles of music and various
languages in the magazine, each piece is an expression of
what our writers and featured artists wish to show. We do
not have set rules and allow the words to come naturally
with few edits. Articles are not constrained to simply music
- we like to be broad in the way we express our passion and
include a variety of topics including poetry, fashion and
l i f e s t y l e . E a c h c h o s e n t o p i c w i l l r e fl e c t t h e t h o u g h t s o f t h e

writer and revolve around music in some way. The

A slick speaker design is on our cover this month created by Daniel
Wanrooy, the words flow out mimicking waves of sound. The slight natural

grain folds over onto our back over. We are proudly celebrating our 4th
year anniversary! I feel like this year we found our identity with our new
free-spirited persona. We’re constantly grateful and filled with love from all
the support we receive, so thank you all. Our values will always remain
pure, with the aims of expressing creativity and making the world a happier
place. With this idea in mind, we also launch our new advertising with a

heart basis - plans which utilises your own budget and aims to create
something tailored to you.

The one thing I notice about
these Ramblers, or better yet any
athlete, is that no matter where
I see them they have
headphones in getting in the
zone. Even when they are
walking through a crowd with
people chanting “LUC LUC LUC!”
they still have headphones in!
All I want to know is what music
they are listening to!
So, these are my predictions of
the tunes blasting through the
headphones of the Loyola
Ramblers that help them get in
the zone. Now, the team is made
up of international players, so
their taste in music is probably
very different, but these are my
generalized pump-up guesses.

Drake - God's Plan
I guess this song because at their last
regular season home game, which I
attended, they cut down the net with
this song blasting in the gym. And,
they were all rapping and dancing to
it. So, I’m guessing that they are
carrying that feeling off the court by
listening to it in their downtime. Also,
it might remind them that God might
have a plan for them to win it all, not
trying to get all divine
intervention on you readers.

DJ Khaled ft Ludacris, Rick Ross, T-
Pain & Snoop Dogg - All I Do Is Win
I overheard this song playing in
Atlanta when we won the ticket to
the Final Four, and every Loyola fan
had it blasting in their homes, cars,
bars, you name it! I’m guessing the
players had it in their headphones.

The Script - Hall of Fame
This is probably an end goal of all the
player – be inducted in the Hall of
Fame. Right now, the nation knows
some of their names, but they want
it to last internationally and forever!

My basketball fantasy is to always

Rise Up

Rain was omnipresent for the start of the year in
Mauritius. It was horrible going through these

weather changes and knowing only rain, lightning,
cyclones and high humidity. Well that's part of
life. Everything is changing around. Guess what,
same has applied to life. Seems like it has been

hell for everyone out there. Be it on energy shifts
or name it whatever you like, it was awkward and

quite a pain.

Travis song "Why does it always rain on me" will
b e t h e p e r f e c t fi t i n t h e s e c o n d i t i o n s . T h e m o r a l e

quite low and not understanding why the dark
sides of life keep hammering on my head. I was at

some point overwhelmed by those never ending
issues. I needed to focus on how to see the
positive outcome out of it.

Positive thinking works and gains over negativity.
E s p e c i a l l y w h e n y o u b e l i e v e a n d s t a n d fi r m . Y o u r
positive foundations then grow, it spreads and lets
the light burst through these dark clouds. "Bring
the sun back again" I yelled to myself. The light is
within you own self, ignite it and let it burn all
those anchors keeping you tied up to your lower

self.

I truly think now that these dark times were only a
trial, even hard as it can be, I took up the
challenge and fought back. Digging for the

smallest particle of light, keeping it alive, believe
that it can blast everything around to let the
essence of life be ignited again. When facing

ground and the will to give up is looming over you,
just know one thing; the best you can do is to get

up. Rise and shine. Shine again.

Making A Statement

Music in advertising is often something that simply
fl o w s b e s i d e t h e v i s u a l s a s a c o m p l i m e n t i n g f a c t o r o r
to entice a feeling in extension to the main message.
There are times, however, when the music will make a
statement. You may not even know wh#at the advert
is for until the very last glimpse of a brand name, but
this piece will intrigue your curiosity through the use

of sound and seemingly bizarre visuals.

MoneySuperMarket’s #EPICACTIONMAN campaign
commences as another advert which you may not take

notice of - something about having saved with the
brand. But then ‘Finally’ by CeCe Peniston starts

playing. There is no voiceover making it oddly quiet
for a regular interval, you look at the screen with

more attention, puzzled by the view of dancing doll
fi g u r e s . T h e fi n a l s e c t i o n r e v e a l s t h e b r a n d o n c e m o r e

Apple’s Welcome Home by Spike Jonze / Homepod
campaign begins almost like a tv show, witnessing

the girl coming home from work, there is no
voiceover or any music at this point so you’re unsure
of whether it’s even a product advert. She then asks
Siri to play her a song. Only then do we get the hint
of what it really is. ’’Til It’s Over’ by Anderson .Paak
s t a r t s p l a y i n g a s b a c k g r o u n d m u s i c a t fi r s t , t h e n s h e

loses herself to the piece and the sound pushes
through louder and more vividly. She dances

beautifully and orchestrates her apartment to move
with her. The track is equally unique and intricate.

Overall you’re enchanted and delighted by the
creativity in this advert, almost forgetting that it is
a n a d v e r t a s y o u c o n t i n u e w a t c h i n g u n t i l t h a t fi n a l

word of the product.

‘Been Hustlin’’ by Guvna is a nice turnaround story. A gentle tune
flows modestly, the main focus remains on the sharp and mindful
lyrical work. Chase purpose. From the hard grind on the streets,

traveling down the wrong path, now I’m on a different vibe.

Blazing straight on to Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, Apple
Music’s Best of the Week and DJ Target’s #UKUnsigned record of

the day, Guvna B releases his new single ‘Been Hustlin’, the
second track taken from his forthcoming album.

Centering on life lessons and rebelling against the status quo,

‘6AM’ by Witchdoctor is delightful. ‘Champagne’
splashes a touch of elegance with the use of strings
on top of a light bumpy number - like gold jewellery
over a cute LBD! ‘6AM’ holds a darker bass whilst
‘Wot U R’ connects the two moods together with
hazy vocal cuts and sparks of high instrumental
notes.

Witchdoctor is an emerging new talent on the UKG
and Bass Music scene. Operating out of London, the
DJ & Producer has been steadily carving a name
out for himself in both genres, most recently with
his wicked debut release on Hausmade. Downplay
is proud to present ‘6AM, the sophomore EP from
London producer Witchdoctor.

‘Champagne’ kicks off proceedings with a fully feel-
good vibe, staccato rhythms and good-time
melodies mixing it up before the groove steps in
properly. Sugar-sweet basslines and chopped
vocals intersperse the track for a little ray of UKG
sunshine that will put a smile on any raver’s face.

Title track ‘6AM’ takes another path entirely, with
a low-slung 4X4 rhythm guiding the beat across
chord washes and a rolling bassline that gives the
production a full-on warehouse bumpy bubbler
taste that’ll have the floor full in no time.

‘Wot U R’ mixes the best elements of both
proceeding tracks into a perfect UKG concoction,
saccharine melodies inter-playing tough beats to
mesmerizing effect.

‘Kadeema’ by Dirty Freud ft Fullmarx & Salio is addictive. A sweet,
enticing voice and glittery jangles of sound. This contrasts well against a
dark, wobbly bass and the reflective lyrical flow.

Dirty Freud, “the unruly prince of electronica and the bastard son of
electro bass music” is releasing his latest EP Boxing with God (Keep It
Dirty Records). The 5-track release features collaborations with Fullmarx,
Salio and Bradley Lynch. “Boxing with God feels like a continuation of the
Agenda EP, released in 2014. Like then, I’ll be transcribing more of my
travels. I’ve kept many journals throughout the ages; some of them are
falling to pieces, but time always brings decay, so I had to record them
somehow. We all try to leave a legacy on the earth”. Dirty Freud

Dirty Freud has enjoyed multiple playlists on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC
1Xtra, Manchester BBC Introducing and Rinse FM and the UK based artist
and producer’s previous EP Dirty Deeds reached top 10 in Beatport and
Juno. He won Best New DJ and Best New Producer at Bass Movement
Awards and was named in the top 3 at the awards ceremony for each
category. Dirty Freud received excellent reviews from his performances
at Bestival, Lovebox, Citadel, Beat-herder and Soundwave and is
supported by cutting-edge brands including Jagermeister, Dr Martens
and Chunk Clothing.

Dirty Freud’s writing and production talents are well documented. He
published two tracks with BMG which were later used on soundbeds
across daytime TV. He mixes and masters for a regular clientele, working
with commercial artists such as Pixie Lott and Leeroy Thornhill.

‘Disillusioned’ by David Forbes pres. Hal Stucker is a dramatic
odyssey. A progression through contemplation and dark desires.
The intense middle section thrills and evokes curiosity.

This is the 2nd instalment of David Forbes first Hal Stucker album
‘Electronic Excursions’ (forthcoming on Pure Progressive in a
couple of months time). The Hal Stucker sound is dance legend
David Forbes (Public Domain, Optimus, Active Force, Tekra,
Arkadi etc.) exploring his progressive side; deep, emotive,
melodic, expertly crafted dance music.

‘Disillusioned’ is constructed around a pulsing, arpeggiated bass-
line made from multiple, filtering layers, which creates a locked-
in groove on the floor. A neat dialogue sample makes it’s
statement at the break, while analogue Pink Floyd-esque tones
come to the fore – driving the track to it’s grinding peak. First on
the remix tip is the Australian Matter – famed for his stunning
‘The Bends’. His remix, in Matter’s own words is “possibly by best
work yet” – and we wholeheartedly agree. It is deep, sultry and
glorious. Secondly, Russian Slam Duck – fresh from the mind-
blowing ‘Mercury EP’ delivers an acid-bass-line fuelled prog
masterpiece.

proud. This rough and ready track grabs you with the

‘I Got You’ by Serena Kern ft McLean is beautiful. The vocals hold a
warm tone, the smooth male and female harmonious together. I fall

deeper for you every single day. The production is light and easy-
going with lovely details of little twinkles and strings. A blissful

story of love.

I Got You is the new single by soulful beauty Serena Kern, produced
by chart topping urban producer, Ayo Beatz and her long time

music collaborator Chris Rockall of Music Matters. I Got You is a
smooth soulful, pop, R&B track featuring McLean, one of the UK’s
most talented R&B/soul acts. “Chris and Ayo sent me “I Got You” as
a musical arrangement and I loved it. When McLean and I wrote to
it we realised we had something very special. ANSAH's remix is

Got You”. The single is taken from her forthcoming EP. “Chasing

Rainbows”, the title track of the EP of the same name, with an
urban soul/R&B/club feel, will be released later this spring.

Serena was born in a small town in southern India called Coonoor.
She spent her childhood enjoying the peaceful beauty of the town
with its tea plantations and the beautiful green forested land that

surrounded it. As an artist, Serena loves to draw on her Indian
roots. In 2015 she approached Rishi Rich (Teddy Riley, Jay Sean)
who is currently based out in Atlanta. “It happened very fast. I

emailed Rishi to see if he would like to work with me and
immediately he responded “yes, come over and let’s record”. She
remembers. “I flew to Atlanta and recorded 3 tracks in 3 days!” The
result was critically acclaimed EP “Dream” which the Asian music
scene welcomed with open arms. The title track featured on the
BBC Asian Network Official Downloads Charts for several weeks.

Serena is now drawing more influence from her life in London,
which can be heard in her recent track Drop Top featuring UK hot
artist of the moment Ms Banks. Serena works tirelessly to fund her
music and her professional life involves running various charities

and foundations. Though she may look angelic, Serena is a no-
nonsense lawyer who fights for what she believes in. This sense of
ambition has been invaluable for her music career and has helped

drive her success.
