• The first president of UMNO, Allayarham Dato 'Onn
Jaafar has been hailed as the Founder of a Nation State in
the history of national independence. The Liaison Body
of an Umno Johor state wants the late to be referred to as
such after taking into account his contribution in uniting
the people of this country, including when initiating
organized measures against the Malayan Union.

He was born in Bukit Gambir, Johor Bahru.
Dato 'Onn bin Jaafar's family is one of the most
influential families in Johor since the late 19th century
and until today. His father, the late Dato 'Jaafar Haji
Mohamed (1838-1919) was the first Menteri Besar of
Johor and the founder of the Johor government
administrative system, as it exists today. His father Malay
of Bugis descent and comes from the dike. He was born in
1838 in the Gulf pans, Singapore, and received his early
education at the Malay schools and English. He has 15
brothers and sisters of the same parents, sepapa and also
the same mother only.



• Dato 'Onn Jaafar began to get used to the world of
