Mafia when he was 20 years old. He was nicknamed “The Pig” for

Language Focus

- The headline of a newspaper is originally intended to attract the reader’s
attention (and encourage them to buy the paper). They use bold
headline statement in the Present Tense and it gives the readers a
sense of urgency and excitement.

- Most news headlines are in Simple Present Tense but they refer to
Simple Past Tense.

A Technologic Theft

A woman from Greenville, Florida, lost all of her money in her
bank. Two days ago. Mary Clemper, aged 40, went shopping to
Alabamas, a famous shopping centre in Greenville. She went to
a big department store in the shopping centre and bought a lot
of food and drink for her daughter’s birthday party. She came to
the cashier to pay for the things. She gave the cashier her bank
card and the cashier put the bank card in the pos machine. But
there wasn’t any money in her account. She was shocked and
called her bank immediately. The bank manager told her that
she took all her money from her account and transferred it to an another bank account in New
York. She was sure that she didn’t transfer her money to any account. At last she remembered
