Through the Healthy Living Institute at UMC, we offer many opportunities
for you to participate in wellness education and activities. As you
explore this quarter’s Living Magazine, you will find information about
activities and speakers exploring many wellness topics along your
journey to greater health!

First Lady Visits UMC
On May 6, UMC received a special early morning visit from First Lady
Dr. Jill Biden, who stopped by UMC to thank our front-line health
care workers and deliver White House cookies. UMC hosted the event
in partnership with SEIU Nevada to celebrate the many dedicated
health care workers who continue to work tirelessly to save lives amid
the COVID-19 pandemic.

UMC and Community Partners to Announce
$6M Effort to Expand HIV Testing in Nevada
On the 40th anniversary of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the U.S.,
UMC and its community partners announced the launch of a
$6 million, five-year effort to significantly expand HIV testing in
Southern Nevada. Dr. Jerry Cade, Medical Director of the UMC
Wellness Center, announced this valuable program alongside Rep.
Dina Titus, Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy and Dr.
Fermin Leguen, District Health Officer for the Southern Nevada
Health District.
As a result of a joint effort between the Southern Nevada Health
District, UMC and the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center,
community members will soon
have access to testing services
for HIV and other sexually
transmitted infections at all nine
