on Receiving Yeshiva Har Torah’s
Faculty Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership.
One cannot fully appreciate the importance of connecting oneself
to wise and inspirational leaders. It is critical in today’s modern age,
where much can be accomplished via one’s smartphone and other
electronic media. We must internalize the lesson that a personal
approach is necessary and should remain paramount in our
relationships with others. The personal connection is a two-way street,
important for a teacher and student and certainly among friends.

This is a valuable lesson that has been taught by you and should be
emulated by all of us. It is not only the responsibility of one’s friends

to seek out your advice, wisdom and guidance; it is also essential
that the wise leader stay in warm, personal contact with their friends.
This vital personal connection is a character trait exemplified by you.
You are fully committed to your friends, schools and your community.

You find the time to develop these personal connections, making
every recipient feel as if they are your sole focus in that moment.

We are blessed to have such a dear friend and a wise leader.

Our Former Associate Principal and Forever Teacher, Mentor and Friend

Ask over three decades of Moriah alumni what they remember about their
alma mater. They will tell you that they remember the Moriah Hallel melodies,

Shushan Purim Costume Day and Yom HaAtzmaut birthday parties. They
remember their Siddur Party, “HaSivivon” at Café Chanukah and marching in
the Salute to Israel Parade. Our alumni remember our Lag B’Omer bonfires
and outings, countless rounds of ‫״יעלה ויבוא״‬, and our Chanukah Toy Drives.
Our alumni remember these many creations of Rabbi Yisrael Silverman. For

thirty-two years, the soul of Moriah had Rabbi Silverman’s signature on it,
and countless leaders and future leaders of the Jewish community
continue to have his spirit within them.

It has been a feat of great proportions to impress children in the
dramatic and enduring way that Rabbi Silverman has. It is also
an awesome responsibility to sustain that level of energy and
commitment day after day, month after month, year after year.
Rabbi Silverman has ably and remarkably met the challenge and
has been accomplishing this daunting task for over forty years.

The Moriah School was most fortunate to have Rabbi Silverman as our
Associate Principal, educating two generations of Moriah students

provided for our sons and daughters. Rabbi Silverman’s legacy
to Moriah and his Moriah children is enduring.

The Yeshiva Har Torah Education Committee is comprised of

our Administrative team , and our lay parent body dedicated
to collaborate and grow our children one student at a time.

In recognition of Rabbi Yisrael Silverman, Assistant Principal,

receiving the Faculty Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership, the
members of the Education committee express our sincerest Hakarat Hatov.

Rabbi Silverman's commitment to Jewish education at YHT through his
leadership in Jewish curriculum, development, teacher mentoring and educating

our children is truly a labor of love. The humor, smiles and enthusiasm
as we are all "Chaveirim" together adds spirit to our school community .

It is fitting that this year's Dinner also honors our committee

Co-Chair, Eli Schilowitz who is truly deserving of this

recognition. Eli's leadership role in the Education Committee
encompasses his mission to highlight Har Torah's many program
initiatives and educate our parent body. Eli has collaborated on
countless Educational programs spearheading many opportunities
for our children. He is an advocate for our children, our parent
body, and our Administration. Eli has single-handedly increased

communication regarding educational programming via our
website and social media. Eli's passion, creativity, and dedication
is priceless and we are grateful for all that he does. On top of everything
else, Eli literally comes into our school to take photos capturing
our students' joy in their learning, bringing us much nachat and smiles.
