Mazel Tov on 50 wonderful years with the Chabad House of Buffalo.
I was fortunate to enjoy 5 wonderful years at Chabad. I look forward
to many more students having the same pleasurable experience as I
was able to.
Dori Rosinsky
To the [beyond] amazing Buffalo Chabad house Gurary family. It is so unbelievable
that over 12 years have passed since my time as a student in Buffalo came to an
end. I’ll never forget the first few Shabbos dinners I had at the Chabad house.
Rivka and Rabbi were so hospitable and comforting, I truly felt like I had my
Jewish home away from home at Chabad. My Jewish roots quickly grew to
strengthen.
As a young Jewish girl, I always knew what keeping a kosher home was and
lighting Shabbat candles were, but Chabad changed my way of looking and even
practicing Judaism. I found that I connected on a much deeper level of Judaism
once I became involved in the Chabad house, I started keeping kosher outside of
the home, I joined Shabbat dinners on Friday night, and tried recruiting other
Jewish students to come with me. I also learned so much through the Sinai
scholars course with Rabbi Avraham.
Five years ago, I met a dedicated sweet Jewish boy who is now my husband, Brian,
and we got married four years ago. BH, we now have two children, Julia who just
turned 3 years old and Cooper who will BH be 1 years old at the end of July. To
this day, my journey through Judaism has remained so focused and my roots have
only grown stronger.
I could never ever say that I would be who I am today without the help, guidance
and love from Chabad. I feel so lucky to be able to share all I have learned with my
children BH. I am so fortunate that I had the opportunity to create such strong
relationships with the Gurary family which will BH remain for the foreseeable
future.
With love always,
Claire, Brian, Julia & Cooper Daniel (formerly Claire Greenblatt)
I am honored to be a part of the 50th Anniversary Chabad of Buffalo

Many wonderful memories shared with Rabbi Noson Gurary, but
one does stand out.
On erev Yom Kippur, 1980, Rabbi Gurary and I met with Bob Dylan
at the Sheraton Hotel and tried to have him cancel his Toronto
concert and come to the Chabad House for Yom Tov. That didn’t
happen, but Rabbi Gurary did give him cake from the Rebbe.
“And, we believe that from that piece of cake, shortly thereafter,
Dylan started studying Yiddishkeit in Minnesota.”
Steve Stern
The Chabad at Buffalo has forever a special place in my heart.
I’ve met lifelong friends and experiences I’ll never forget. Rabbi
Moshe, Rebbetzin Rivka and the children have become an
extended family I never knew I needed. They opened my
eyes to a home away from home of emotional, spiritual, and
loving support. My Bat-Mitzvah was held at the Chabad
along with other students making my connection with
them that much more meaningful.
The Gurary Family is an essential part of the UB community!
Dana (Debbie) Pellegrino ‘11
50 years ago exactly, I took a trip to Israel with my sister. When my plane
landed I started to cry, and I didn't understand why. I was not at all
religious, but had somewhat of a background, but the emotional reaction
was a total surprise. During the course of my trip I decided to become
religious, but didn't really know very much.
I returned to Buffalo for my last year of a degree in anthropology, moving
back in with the same non-religious Jews and Goyim. How would I keep
Shabbos? How would I learn what I needed to know? In that first week of
the semester I saw a new sign with dancing Chassidim hung above what
had been a clam bar about 200m from my apartment. I was overwhelmed
and knocked on the door: Who are you? What are you?! Needless to say I
became the Chabad House's first customer, and the rest is history…
Pegishot in Crown Heights, Bait Chana in Minnesota, moving to Crown
Heights, (we were the first large group of ballot tshuva, they didn't know
what to do with us!) the establishment of Machon Chana and
then getting married.
I now live in Emanuel in Eretz Yisroel, have בע"חeleven children and 41
grandchildren, all due to the love and foresight to send shluchim like Rabbi
Gurary all over the world to gather in lost and searching Jews like me.
We had a wonderful year with your father, learning each one about the
other. I hope we didn't make his life too difficult with our questions, but his
sincerity and simplicity won us over. A real Chassisher Yid in Buffalo!

Mazel Tov Chabad House of Buffalo on its 50 incredible years!
Rabbi Dr. Noson Gurary, Shlit"a, always had an uncanny ability to
detect the Pintele Yid no matter how enshrouded it may have been.
Perhaps that's why he was able to mekarev so many people over the
years and ultimately inspire them to do teshuvah. He will always be
the quintessential Chabad shaliach. If only we could sing in his key.
