Situation

The conservation village of Wing is situated between the popular Rutland towns of
Uppingham and Oakham. The Village is built of predominantly stone houses some of
which date from the 17th Century and has a church, village hall, and pub.

The village is accessible to a number of major conurbations including Peterborough,
Kettering, Market Harborough, Leicester, Melton Mowbray and Nottingham. In
Peterborough there is a mainline station with frequent train services to London King’s
Cross and from Kettering and Market Harborough to St Pancras. The A1 lies
approximately 10 miles to the east and gives access north and south. The A14 runs east
to west and is accessed at Kettering.

Recreational facilities in the area are many and varied with nearby Rutland Water
providing sailing, windsurfing, fishing, scenic walks and cycle rides. Golf is available at
Luffenham Heath, Burghley, Greetham Valley, Market Harborough and Stapleford.

There are a wide range of schools within easy reach of the village including independent
schools in Uppingham, Oakham, Stamford and Oundle.

Description

With a Grade II listed façade and beautifully designed, modern interior, The Chapel is
delightful blend of traditional period features and modern contemporary living.

Passing the walled frontage, a short path leads to the front door sheltered by a wooden
porch, either side of which is an intimate terrace. The Chapel, constructed of stone under
Welsh, blue slate, has two stunning arched windows framing the entrance, adding to the
properties character.

Stepping over the threshold, one enters a clean-lined, open plan interior designed by an
architect who, after The Chapel closed in 1997, renovated the property for use as a
private residence. The renovation work carried out was so superbly executed that it was
awarded the locally renowned George Phillips Award.

The double height sitting room presents a sense of space and light, the focal points
being the impressive double height arched windows and cosy wood burning stove.
A couple of steps rise to the rear of the property into the kitchen-diner, once again,
through thoughtful design, the area feels welcoming and spacious providing a wonderful
space for entertaining. The kitchen island, complete with sink, gives further preparation
space to the built-in kitchen units along the walls as well as bar seating area. There is
also an array of built-in appliances comprising; kitchen hob, oven and microwave. Beyond
the island is the dining area that would comfortably take a dining table to seat 4 people.

The stairs have built in storage beneath and glazed banisters. On reaching the landing
of this unique property, there is a bathroom and two double bedrooms, one of which
has beautiful glass banisters overlooking the open plan living room below, both benefit
from an array of built-in storage in the landing area.
