Just a few weeks earlier, Kim settled her drama-filled divorce and custody negotiations with rapper Kanye West after months of enduring his erratic behavior and controversial comments, including headline-making antisemitic tweets. “It’s hard,” Kim finally admitted. “Co-parenting, it’s really f---ing hard.” It was a raw and unguarded moment. And it’s not the only confession Kim’s made in recent days. Nearly two years after she filed to divorce Kanye,the reality TV star has been taking stock of her life and coming clean publicly and privately. “This year has been so difficult for Kim. She’s been trying to reflect more,” explains a source, pointing to the mogul’s ups and downs with Kanye, 45, as well as her summer splitfrom comedian Pete Davidson, 29, following nine months of dating. “Kim is telling friends that she realizes she’s made a lot of bad choices along theway.” WEIGHEDDOWN This is a new Kim. “She’s learning to live a more authentic life.For years,Kim worried about what people would think of her, so she’s trying to change thatlittle by little,” shares the source, who says the 42-yea r -old h a s “ e v en been tempted to be more openabout her past plastic surgery procedures. That is real, heavy, grown-up s---,” Kim explained on Angie’s podcast, referring to Kanye’s myriad controversies. “One day, my kids will thank me for not sitting here and bashing their dad when I could....I definitelyprotectedhim.” In her home, Kim’s done all she can to prevent her children from hearing about their father’s drama. “They’re just not on social media,” Kim said, noting that though eldest daughter North has a TikTok account, it’s “on my phone and my phone only.” According to Kim: “When stuff’s going down, I protect stuff in the house as far as the TVs and the contentthat’s on.” She’s sacrificed her own feelings in the process. “If BEFORE NOW She’s Changed So Much! [I can] act like nothing is wrong,” she said, but “as soon as I drop them off,” she added,then “I can have a goodcry.” SPILLINGHERGUTS Venting helps too. “Kim feels lucky to have a great circle of friends she can trust, people who’ve supported her,” says the source. “They’ve helped her find some happiness, and of course she has her family.” Well, most of them anyway. “Kim’s cut people she found draining or toxic out of her life,” says the source, pointing out that the Skims founder has had to make some tough decisions about loved ones, including sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner. “She’d beenonterrible terms with them and decided that instead of allowing the fighting to continue, she’d take a break from Kendall andKylie.” Kim wants to focus on what’s truly important. She called her kids “my biggest reality check” and said being robbed of millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room in 2016 taught her a valuable lesson. Before the heist, she told Angie, she judged her “importance by the things that I had, the cars that I had…. I thought that made me cooler.” She learned that “all of this stuff doesn’t matter,” adding, “I was so happy that all happened to me.” She’s currently working to be more present. “Kim’s been practicing mindfulness,” says the source. “She wants to worry less and enjoy the life she’s built, so she’s incorporating meditation and gratitude exercises into her day.
