LISBOA The Art of the Lisbon Metro Stations CHARL DURAND

5 Ask me what I remember about Lisbon. Almost nothing, but I remember the underground train. Getting on, getting off, getting on, getting off again and again. Rushing up and down platforms, the elevators, the staircases, pointing my iPhone in all directions like a crazy tourist. Because there was so much to see that inspired, awed, and thrilled. Some of it spoke languages I could understand, other spoke a strange tongue. It reminded me of Africa, my home, others were hints of Portuguese ways of being. And we all know Portugal left a small piece of her soul on my continent, in my country. Thank you Lisbon for filling your train tunnels with colourful postcards, walls of art It molded my memory of the city Permanent like shiny tiles. //April 2019//
