Wak Hasim and his friends in Kelanga when there was a big
event. However, this play often gets "accompaniment" from
mystical things that often accompany it, so some players go
into a trance. It is said that "they" came from Pulau Sahi
Darat which is known for its haunted location. The taboo on
Pulau Sahi Laut is not to tell the story of the Black Bujang
when we are near or on the island. There's nothing wrong
with being told while on the coast of Teluk Sahi. "He is
embarrassed to be told," said Wak Hasim.

Legenda Tok Ibo & Tok Umbok

Zaman dahulu kala di bagian barat pulau Bunguran,
hiduplah sepasang suami istri yang bernama Tok Ibo dan
Tok Umbok. Mereka tinggal di hulu sungai dekat tanaman
bakau dan membuat rumah panggung di sana. Mereka
berdua tinggal di tempat tersebut sudah cukup lama
dimana di tempat tersebut belum ada seorangpun yang
tinggal kecuali mereka berdua. Kampung terdekat adalah
kampung Aek Pantes yang terletak berkilo-kilo meter
jauhnya.

Tok Umbok sangat suka memakan sirih, tangannnya
hampir setiap saat menggenggam kaciep1. Sementara Tok
Ibo bekerja mencari ikan dan berburu dengan anjingnya.
Tok Ibo juga sangat suka membuka lahan untuk
berkebun. Zaman dahulu, siapa yang bisa membuka lahan
membabat hutan, maka daerah tersebut akan menjadi
miliknya. Itulah salah satu alasan Tok Ibo dan Tok Umbok
berada di tempat ini. Mereka merasa tertantang untuk
menaklukan daerah dekat hulu sungai tersebut.

Once upon a time, on the west side of Bunguran
Island, there was a couple called Tok Ibo and Tok Umbok.
They lived in the stilt house around the river upstream
near the mangrove. They had been living there for a long
time, and still, no one lived there. The nearest village was
Aek Pantes Village, which was kilometers away.

Tok Umbok really liked to eat betel nut. Almost every
time she hoed kaciep1. While Tok Ibo was fishing and
hunting with his dog, he really liked to open a plot of land
to farm. In the olden days, whoever opened a plot of land
in the woods, then that plot of land became theirs. It was
one of the reasons why Tok Ibo and Tok Umbok lived
here. It picked their interest to conquer the area near the
upstream.

Singkat cerita, pada suatu malam, Tok Ibo yang
sudah tua renta itu menemui ajalnya, berpulang
kerahmatullah. Kesedihan teramat sangat dialami Tok
Umbok yang ditinggal pergi oleh suaminya selama-
lamanya. Dalam ia bersedih, disitu pula ia merasa
kebingungan, siapa yang akan menyelenggarakan
jenazah suaminya, terlebih haripun sudah malam, gelap
gulita. Tok Umbok pun memutuskan untuk menunggu hari
terang esoknya, agar ia bisa ke kampung Aek Pantes
untuk meminta pertolongan warga di sana. Dalam
kesedihan dan kebingungannya itu, tiba-tiba entah dari
mana asalnya datang serombongan orang-orang yang
terlihat dari remang-remang malam dengan busana putih-
putih dan bersorban ke rumah tok Umbok.

“Alhamdulillah, Tok Leboi2 datang.”, kata tok Umbok
dengan perasaan gembira.

Tanpa berpikir panjang Tok Umbok segera
mempersilahkan rombongan tok Leboi untuk masuk.
Rombongan tok Leboi masuk sementara Tok Umbok
duduk berlipat kaki satu di dapur rumah sambil
menyiapkan hidangan seadanya. Rombongan Tok Leboi
langsung duduk di dekat jenazah Tok Ibo dan mulai
berdzikir.

Long story short, one night, the old Tok Ibo passed
away. Tok Umbok was grief-stricken by the loss of her
husband. In her sorrow, she was fazed as she didn’t know
who would help to arrange the funeral. Moreover, it was
late at night and the surrounding was pitch black.
Suddenly, a group of people appeared from nowhere.
They were seen in the dim night in white clothes and
turbans.

"Alhamdulillah2, Tok Leboi3 come here," said Tok
Umbok happily.

Without further ado, Tok Umbok invited Tok Leboi’s
group in. The entourage came in and sat near the
deceased to do dzikir4. Meanwhile, Tok Umbok went to
the kitchen to prepare some simple dishes for the guests.

“La ilah hel, ngap, la ila hel ngap, lah ilah hel ngap”.
Begitu terdengar suara “dzikir” yang dilantunkan
rombongan Tok Leboi. Tok Umbok merasa ganjal dan
aneh, namun ia masih bisa berprasangka baik dengan
rombongan ini.

“La ilah hel, ngap, la ila hel ngap, lah ilah hel ngap”.
Lantunan dzikir aneh itu terus terdengar sehingga
membuat Tok Umbok penasaran, terlebih ketika mereka
berdzikir, suaranya seperti sedang mengunyah sesuatu,
padahal hidangan dari Tok Umbok belum lagi disajikan.
Ditengah rasa penasaran bercampur ketakutan itu, Tok
Umbok memberanikan diri kedepan untuk melihat apa
yang dilakukan rombongan Tok Leboi.
Dalam remang-remang cahaya bulan yang masuk ke
dalam gubuk kecil mereka, betapa terkejutnya Tok
Umbok ketika melihat jenazah suaminya sudah tidak utuh
lagi, daging-daging Tok Ibo sedikit demi sedikit dikutes3
oleh Tok Leboi dan rombongannya. Perasaan sedih dan
takut bercampur baur didalam benak Tok Umbok, ingin
rasanya berteriak minta tolong namun ia takut ketahuan
rombongan Tok Leboi ini, dan juga tiada siapapun yang
bisa menolong, karena kampung terdekat dari rumah
mereka sangatlah jauh.

"La ilah hel, gnaw, la ila hel gnaw, lah ilah hel gnaw."
That was the "dzikir" that was chanted by Tok Leboi’s
group. Tok Umbok felt weird and bizarre, but she still had
positivity with this group.

"La ilah hel, gnaw, la ila hel gnaw, lah ilah hel gnaw".
The weird dzikir piqued Tok Umbok interest. Their
dzikir sounded like they were chewing something. Then
again, she was not serving the dish yet. In her curiosity
and mixed feelings, she braced herself to see what the
group was doing.
In the dim moonlight that illuminated the small
cottage, Tok Umbok was shocked silly when she saw her
husband’s body was no longer intact. His flesh was bitten
bit by bit by Tok Leboi and his group. The mixed feelings
of sadness and fear of hers made her want to scream
asking for help. But she was afraid the group would find
out and no one could help since the nearest village was
far away.

Tak hilang akal, Tok Umbok berpura-pura
menjatuhkan kaciep yang digenggamnya ke bawah
rumah. Lalu ia meminta izin untuk mengambil kaciep
tersebut di tanah sambil membawa pelita. Setelah tiba di
bawah rumah, Tok Umbok yang masih penasaran kembali
mengintip rombongan Tok Leboi yang sedang menyantap
suaminya tersebut. Benar saja, rombongan Tok Leboi
tersebut tidak menjejaki lantai rumah, mereka melayang
dan mengambang di udara. Saat itu pula Tok Umbok
merencanakan untuk melarikan diri. Untuk mengelabuhi
rombongan hantu itu, pelita yang dibawa Tok Umbo diikat
pada ekor anjing peliharaannya dan diberi perintah agar
lari ketika waktunya tiba untuk mengelabuhi rombongan
hantu ini.

Kemudian dengan serta merta Tok Umbok lari
menyelamatkan diri menuju Aek Pantes untuk meminta
pertolongan. Tok Umbok lari sekuat tenaga tak peduli
berapa jauhnya. Tok Umbok tetap berlari menyelamatkan
diri. Sedih, letih, dan takut, bercampur baur di dalam diri
Tok Umbok mengenang kejadian yang baru saja ia alami.

She composed herself and pretended to drop her
kaciep down under the house. She excused herself to
take the kaciep with the help of an oil lamp as the
lighting. When she was under the house, she peeked at
the group who were munching on her husband. Sure
enough, the group was floating. She decided to run
away. She tricked the ghost troupe by tying the oil lamp
to her dog and making it run.

Thereafter, Tok Umbok ran away to Aek Pantes to
ask for help. She ran for her life, no matter how far the
distance was. Sadness, weariness, and fearfulness mixed
as one when she recalled the thing that happened.

Setelah tiba di kampung Aek Pantes, ia langsung
meminta pertolongan warga sekitar. Kemudian Tok
Umbok bersama warga Aek Pantes langsung menuju ke
rumah Tok Umbok di hulu sungai. Setelah tiba di rumah,
apa yang didapat Tok Umbok sangat menyayat hati.
Jenazah suami tercintanya sudah tinggal tulang-belulang.
Kondisi tersebut membuat warga termasuk Tok Umbok
merasa sangat ketakutan. Serta merta mereka lari untuk
menyelamatkan diri. Sementara tulang-belulang Tok Ibo
dibiarkan begitu saja di gubuknya.
----------------------Catatan :

Cerita Tok Ibo dan Tok Umbok ini merupakan cerita
rakyat yang sudah turun temurun diceritakan oleh para
orang tua di kampung. Tempat tinggal Tok Ibo dan Tok
Umbok yang berada di hulu sungai dengan satu tanaman
bakau itu saat ini disebut dengan Pian4 Nyigheh5.
Sementara tulang-belulang Tok Ibo ini menjadi misterius,
terkadang terlihat, terkadang tidak. Beberapa kesaksian
warga menceritakan pernah menemukan tulang-tulang di
Pian Nyigheh tersebut.

She asked for help right away when she arrived at
Aek Pantes village. Then, Tok Umbok and Aek Pantes
villagers hastily went to Tok Umbok house upstream. She
felt grief when she arrived. Only her beloved husband’s
bones remained. It frightened the villagers and Tok
Umbok. They hurried to run for life, left behind Tok Ibo’s
bones.

----------------------Notes :

The story of Tok Ibo and Tok Umbok is a folk tale that
has been passed down from generation to generation by
village’s elders. The house of Tok Ibo and Tok Umbok,
which are in the upstream of the river with one mangrove
plant, is currently called Pian5 Nyigheh6 . While Tok Ibo’s
bones become a mysterious existence, which is sometimes
visible and sometimes not. Several people’s testimonies
were recounted about finding some bones in Pian
Nyigheh.
