textbooks' content.

Problem statement:
Students find that relying on textbooks alone makes them bored and lose
interest in the topic. They hardly memorized the Microorganisms topic
and their sub contents. They need a creative and interactive environment
with the help of technological tools to enhance the learning experience.

Forming the design brief:
We want to improve the traditional way of learning so that learners will
have a more enjoyable learning experience and achieve the deeper
understanding as well as enhance their memory of the topic.

TEACHING & LEARNING
STRATEGIES

Overview of teaching and
learning strategies

The methods described in this part of the material are widely accepted and proven to be successful in the
education of adolescents in their formative years. Students learn to think critically, as well as how to do
research, evaluate sources, and collaborate with others. Using Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences and an
updated version of Bloom's Taxonomy, the techniques were made to fit a variety of ways of learning.

Selecting T/L
strategies

What is tuning in?

Tuning in’ strategies provide the opportunity for students to explore their current knowledge, attitudes and values
about microorganisms benefit and effect toward human. While working independently or collaboratively, students
can use suggested graphic organizers to record and share information. Teachers will be able to use evidence
gathered from students’ responses to plan a program to cater for the needs of all students.
Implement: Using Canva app to collaborative and gain students response by using infographics.

What is sorting out?

"Sorting out" strategies provide the opportunity for students to sort, analyse, prioritise, compare and contrast
information to further develop and consolidate their knowledge, skills and attitudes. Summarizing key information
and clarifying relationships or associations between information and ideas will assist students to draw conclusions
and apply their understanding.
Implement: Using Canva slide for interactive learning and Wordwall games and quiz to test out their understanding.

What is finding out?

‘Finding out’ strategies provide the opportunity for students to develop and demonstrate the experiment on find
out is the microorganisms breath. They can identify gaps in their existing knowledge and understanding, and work
collaboratively to gather information through self-directed investigation. Students will be able to use the
information through learning in the online class and watch YouTube videos gathered to generate and
communicate ideas and record responses.
Implement: Using Canva slide to share information about Yeast experiment. Students will watch Youtube to
understand about Yeast experiment, benefit and effect of Microorganisms.

Technological (s) tool:
Canva and Wordwall

Justify choice:

Canva:Canva prepares more features that are convenient for students and teachers to access and do collaborative
work with their peers. Moreover, the Canva app makes it easy for teachers to create interesting and creative slide
presentations for students. Also, this app lets instructors upload any material that students can access at any time by
clicking on a link.

Wordwall: Wordwall offers a lot of activity templates to create quick and engaging lessons. Most of the activities are
game-based and it will enhance the active participation of students in the classroom.

Potential of technological tool:

Canva

Students can use Canva to design and create their own learning portfolios to better visualize and record their
learning. Students can use learning portfolios to keep track of what they've learned in a class or over the course
of several classes, as well as to evaluate and think about their own learning. Teachers can use learning portfolios
for assessment purposes, to involve parents in student learning, to help students become more aware of their
own learning process, and, of course, to teach design skills.
Some students enjoy the interactive nature of group projects and even learn better in groups, but more
introverted or self-sufficient students might be a bit hesitant to learn this way. Canva addresses the needs of
both kinds of students, since collaboration can happen in person, virtually, or a combination of both.
Students can create a group of up to 10 members for free, which makes it easier to share designs and folders.
They can share as many designs as they want in up to 2 folders within their group, which is ideal for drafting,
revising, and collaborating on projects. They can also give each other feedback on their work by liking,
commenting on, and editing it.
