Join our Work It Challenge
Get the whole family moving, with WORK IT! our Virtual Family Fitness Challenge. Take part in a
variety of fitness challenges over the course of 30 days, including star jumps, squats, press-ups, steps
and the plank. At the end of your 30 days we'll send you a virtual medal, and certificate of completion
to show off what you've achieved. Visit www.khhospice.org.uk/xxxx to sign up.

Online Car Boot
Sort out your clutter and organise an online car boot sale with the proceeds coming to KHH.

Set a fitness goal and get sponsored
Always wanted to get fitter, run 5K, or maybe a marathon is more your thing? How about getting on
your bike, or getting out the trainers and racking up some miles? Set yourself a distance goal and set
up your Just Giving page. The more you train the more you raise and while you are pounding the
streets, or racking up the miles, you will be motivated by the knowledge that you're picking up the
valuable pounds for hospice care.

Unplug for the Day
Challenge your family to go device free and unplug for the day
in return for sponsorship. Every hour they complete without
their devices will help local people.

Brave the Shave
Little Aggie and her mum braved the shave for our
patients and went for a grade 6 and 4 respectively! If
they can do it so can you! Whether it be your hair,
beard, moustache or legs, brave the shave (or wax) and
raise valuable funds and look good during lockdown!

Fundraising at work (if you can!)

No Snacks
Get everyone to ditch snacks for the day, saving their waistline and also some money – what they
would have spent they could donate instead!
Cake Sale or Chocolate Sale
Or do the opposite! Make or buy the snacks for the office to purchase! A multipack of chocolate is
£1, sell each bar for 50p and you've made £1 profit!
Dress Down Day: Ask your colleagues to donate if they want to wear whatever they like for the
day!
No Email Day
Its good to talk! Why not challenge your colleagues to only
communicate verbally for the day, and get them talking – they can
receive sponsorship for every hour they last!
Sweepstake
Doing your own fitness challenge. Set yourself your own personal
goal? Ask your workmates to sponsor you but to boost your
fundraising why not hold a sweepstake and see who can guess
your finish time!!

How your fundraising helps

The specialist palliative care at Katharine House Hospice is provided free of charge to all our
patients and their families 24 hours a day, 365 days year. This is thanks to people like you.
Without the support of our local community, our hospice simply would not exist, so we really
cannot thank you enough for your support which is vital to us.
£15 pays for one hour of nursing care.
£50 pays for a delicious and nutritious home cooked meal for 8 patients.
£180 pays for a patient receiving their care in their own home through the night.
£617 pays for 24 hours of care for an in-patient.
£1026 pays for 6 weeks of care for one of our day therapies patients.
£7500 pays for all of our services for 24 hours.

Make your Fundraising Great!

Set up a JustGiving page
JustGiving pages are a quick, simple and secure way to collect donations. It's easy to share your
story, raise funds and track your fundraising using this online tool. It’s great to use during these
difficult times as people can donate without you having to collect money physically.

Gift Aid
Don't forget to ask people to Gift Aid their donation if they are a UK taxpayer. Gift Aid is a scheme
introduced by HM Revenue and Customs which allows us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated.

Match funding
Local companies often run match funding schemes where they will match the amount you raise.
Think about which companies you know that may be interested in doing this e.g. your workplace,
and don't be afraid to ask them.

Set yourself a target
Setting a target of how much you want to fundraise gives you a goal to aim towards. Share this
target with your friends and family and it may encourage them to give more. Don't be afraid to be
ambitious - supporters are often surprised at how quickly the money adds up.

Spread the word
Don't be afraid to tell as many people as possible about what you're doing. Using social media is a
great way to get the word out to friends, family and colleagues. Telling people why you're raising
money for Katharine House is a good way to help motivate them to get involved.

How to pay in your money
Once your fundraising is over it's important to thank everyone involved and be sure to tell them how
much money you've raised! It's also a good chance to chase people for any last minute donations.
Paying in your fundraising money couldn't be simpler. Any money you have raised online will come
automatically to us, you don't need to do anything. Anything you have raised offline can be paid in
to our bank account (our fundraising team can provide details on request), or you can drop it in to
the hospice any time.

Thank you!
