Opa-locka: Baghdad of the South
Created in 1996 as part of a Hometown Heritage Series, this children's book deconstructs the historical narrative and built icons of the historic city of Opa-locka. With illustrations from Carol-Ann Rudy, this 34-page story starts at the beginning of the city's rich 100-year history.
Written and illustrated by Carol-Ann Rudy, edited by Dr. Paul S. George, published by Dormouse Productions, Incorporated, with licensing permissions for digitization and re-printing granted to non profit Ten North Group.
This project was supported by the Dade County Cultural Affairs Council, Target Stores, the City of Opa-locka, Omni International Mall.
