1. A placement test for any Malaysian students
intending to further studies for 1st degree in Malaysia
university (public @ private).

2. Pre-U Preparatory English Test

3. There is no passing or failing marks only bands:
Band 1 until Band 6.

4. Most universities still accept Band 1 & 2 for
entrance into universities but the students are
required to score Band 3-Band 4 to graduate.



The Objectives of MUET are:
 to measure the English language proficiency of

candidates who intend to pursue first degree studies

in order to help institutions make better decisions

about the readiness of prospective students for

academic coursework
 ability to use and understand English in different

contexts in the environment of higher education.
 assesses candidates’ level of proficiency using

aggregated scores ranging from 1 to 360, which

correspond to Bands from 1 to 5+.
