About the Program
Interested in a global career? How about potential employment in an
international industry like oil and gas, energy management, business,
healthcare, law and many more? Maybe you’re interested in working for
the government, foreign services or an international organization like the
United Nations. The possibilities are endless!
Lone Star College-University Park offers global-minded students seeking
an associate degree the opportunity to simultaneously earn an Area of
Concentration (AOC) in International Studies (IS) on their transcript.
The world is interconnected as never before, and having an AOC in IS
on your transcript will help impress future employers as well as admissions
offices at universities.
To earn an AOC in IS, students must take at least 15 credit hours that
have an International Studies (IS) designation. One foreign language course
(3 - 4 credit hours) can be counted toward these 15 credit hours. Students must
complete at least 50% of the courses toward the degree at Lone Star College
to receive the AOC designation.
