Talking about Routine Activities

Pichai: Could you tell me about your farm?

Penny: Sure. It’s my father’s farm. It’s 180 acres.
We raise cows to make milk.

Pichai: What do you usually do on your farm?

Penny: We start work very early at 3 a.m. It’s still dark. Then at 4
a.m. we always clean the milking equipment. Then at 6 a.m. we feed
the cows before milking them.

Pichai: What do you feed the milking cows?

Penny: We often feed them grass, corn, hay and a lot of water.
Sometimes, we give them vitamins and minerals. At 7 a.m. the
milkmen turn on the milking machines. At around 9 a.m. the milk
truck takes the milk to the dairy.

Pichai: How do you take care of the cows’ health?

Penny: At 11 a.m. we usually take the cows out to the exercise yard
in warm weather.

Pichai: Do you milk the cows again in the afternoon?

Penny: Oh, yes. We normally milk them around 5 p.m. At 7 p.m. we
also feed them again.

Pichai: Do you have any holidays?

Penny: No, we never have holidays. We work 7 days a week, but we
love to do it!
