Description
Tap dance is a form of d ance characterized by using the
sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of
percussion. Two major variations on tap dance exist rhythm
(jazz) tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on
dance; it is widely performed in musical theater. Rhythm tap
focuses on musicality, and practitioners consider
themselves to be a part of the jazz tradition. The sound is
made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe.
There are different brands of shoes which sometimes differ
in the way they sound."Soft-Shoe" is a rhythm form of tap
dancing that does not require special shoes, and though
rhythm is generated by tapping of the feet, it also uses
sliding of the feet more often than modern rhythm tap. It
preceded what is currently considered to be modern tap, but
has since declined in popularity.
Sequence
I am going to show you an order of how to get ready for a
recital
1. layout all your costumes so they can be ready to be
folded and in a bag
2. Make sure you have an easy way for you to take your hair
out take a curling iron with you that's always what i do
3. Put on a little bit of make up don't over do it and bright red
lipstick is a must at my studio
4. Put on your tights and a cover up and you're out the door
for the show
Compare and contrast
There are some differences and similarities about Dance I am
comparing j azz shoes with tap shoes. There is one big
difference they have one doesn't have a heel and one does. The
tap shoe is made to “tap” the shoe on the floor and the jazz shoe
is a little slippery so you can spin easier. They do have some
differences though like they both are used for Dancing. They are
different looking too. in the pictures below there are two shoes.
the tan colored shoe is jazz and the one with a small heel is tap.
Cause and Effect
Cause and effect in dance is when like you have been practicing
for a long time then you get to a udition f or an actual school.. I
have not had that chance but i am actually not that far from it.
When you go to a Dance school it leads you to be a better
person which can let you go to bigger and better schools.
Problem and Solution
The problem and solution with dance is they don't stretch good
so people are skipping classes because they pull a muscle or
fracture something. The solution we can have is my instructor
Mr. Mikey he makes us stretch before we do anything else so i
think it should be a priority to stretch before you start learning
moves or something. This is whats wrong with the dance
community they are getting injurys which some of them can
lead to quitting dance. Down below are some great dancer
stretches.
