September 2022 | Monthly Newsletter

From the Pastor

Praise the Lord! God is good all the time! Welcome to September church, this is going to be the

month that everything starts back! God shows his power and authority and His people show
discipleship and lead us to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ amen!!

Our Wednesday night suppers and prayer service as well as the RAs, GAs, Mission Friends, and
Youth Group will be starting back September 14th. We hope you will make it a habit to join us
on Wednesday night as we get a mid-week infusion of God’s word.

On September 11th, (combined service) we will be having a good old fashion family reunion
with food, fellowship and fun for the whole family. I hope you will join us!

We are getting things together to start on phase 1 of our building project, so look for more
information on that. It is so exciting to see where God is going to lead His church - FBC
Mebane!

I hope you have been joining us on Sunday morning as we continue our study of the whole
bible at the 8:30 am service, and our “Make Moves and Not Excuses” study at the 11:00 am

service.

God has truly been anointing His word, so please come join us and bring friends!! Until next

month, may He hold you in the palm of His hand!

I love you but God loves you more!

† Pastor Sammy

Alamance Pregnancy Services – Items for new born babies

Baby Diapers (newborn, sizes 3, 4 and 5), Body Wash, Diaper Rash Cream, Lotion, Newborn
clothes, Shampoo, Wipes

Alamance Pregnancy Services Offers a variety of services at no cost to women facing
unplanned or crisis pregnancies. Our goal is to provide information and come alongside women

as they make important decisions about their future. Through caring, confidential counseling,
women are empowered to face the challenges of pregnancy and parenting.

NEW WMU THEME for 2022 – 2024 – Hope in Christ from Romans 12:12

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.”
Because of our hope in Christ, we seek to be genuine in love, patient in tribulation,
constant in prayer, and compassionate to all. The dictionary tells us hope is a

desire accompanied by expectations of or belief in fulfillment. A biblical definition
of hope per the Holman Bible Dictionary is an expectation with certainty that God
will do what He has promised. One is a wish without certainty; the other is a

guarantee. Which one is leading our lives? Watch this space for more guidance on what is
necessary to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

North Carolina Missions Offering, 8/28-9/30/2022

Offering goal for FBCM: $2,000, state goal: $2.1M
Relief for Today, Hope for Tomorrow, Romans 15:13

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so
that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

This annual offering supports the ministries of Baptist on Mission, Church
Planting, mission camps, associational projects and mobilization ministry projects. As followers
of Jesus Christ, let us be first in line to provide love and hope through the gospel. Our service

to others points them to Christ and His sacrifice.

NOTES FROM NITA...

PSALM: 68:3 (NIV) But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before

God; may they be happy and joyful.

JOY SENIORS
As we meet for our lunches and trips, our hearts need to be ready to enjoy all
that God has given us. God wants us to be happy and willing to serve Him all the days of our

lives. We are so fortunate that our church and its staff support us and provide us with

transportation, a budget to use and a lovely place to meet.

We receive donations of money and supplies from our seniors, church and friends who know

about us. We now have boxes and boxes of tablecloths, candle holders, plates, napkins and so
much more. Most of this was donations and was given to us so that we could enjoy ourselves.
WOW! What generosity is shown to us! Let’s eagerly take advantage of these gifts. COME

AND REJOICE.

10 a.m., Thursday, September 22: TICKETS (21) have been purchased for a trip to the Temple
Theatre in Sanford. The play is a musical, “Bee Hive” featuring the music of the 60’s. Sign up

The cost is $27.00 which should be paid to Nita Parnell ASAP. Deadline: Wednesday,

backpacks. I will include pictures next month. Pray for our students as they begin the school
year.

Build Your Church Fundraising Campaign

After years of prayer, research, hard work and faithful giving from our congregation, we at First
Baptist Church of Mebane are ready to start building our new church campus! We have 22
acres at the corner of Gibson and 3rd Street and plan to build a Worship Center (Sanctuary), a
Family Life Center and a Childcare center. Our church has decided to start with the Childcare

facility first.

Why start with the children? Because it is an urgent need in our community. The town of
Mebane is, and has, grown rapidly and the waitlist is long for full-day childcare. Families are

waiting months for a spot to open, which creates strain in all areas of life. We want to be the
resource that eases the burden and not only provides a safe and educational place for children -
we want to teach them about the Lord! Our plan is to build a 300 child facility, which will have
a significant and lasting positive impact in Mebane and the surrounding communities.

One of the conditions of our construction loan is to have a 3 year long fundraiser during which
we raise $500,000. This is the final seed money needed to ensure we have the cash on hand to
make interest payments on the loan during construction, furnishing and training. Our goal is to

break ground as quickly as possible with the new childcare facility open for business in the fall
of 2023.

We’ll be having a special presentation during a combined worship service on Sunday,
September 11th at 11am. Following this special service we’ll have a Family Reunion style

covered dish lunch in the Fellowship Hall with outdoor games following. We hope that people
of all ages will laugh with us as we run three-legged races, jump our way through a sack
race/pillowcase races, have a corn hole tournament and play a few more old games we all
remember.

This service also launches our Build Your Church Fundraising campaign. Please consider how
you can support the next chapter in our church’s life. We can all pray - pray that we are

following God’s will, for good construction weather and a safe job site. But many of us can do
more than pray. We can pray and share our financial resources. Some may prefer to give
monthly, some may prefer to give a larger, one-time gift. Some may partner with their family or

friends to give a higher impact gift.

drop an envelope marked Building Fund in the offering boxes in the sanctuary, give the gift of a
piece of property or an item the church can sell (ex:vehicle, fine art, collector’s items), transfer
stock to the church. Donors can choose to be either recognized or anonymous.

For any questions, please reach out to the Build Your Church team leaders: Katherine Conley
