Katelyn Meyer (11) sing as part of the chorus for the Christmas Concert.
All three of them have a passion for singing, and are very talented. The
Christmas Concert is important for many of the singers at Bishop because it
presents new opportunities. Julianna says, "Singing has always been a part
of my life, but the Christmas Concert was special to me because of all the
different songs I got to sing. Also, 1got to sing in a quartet, which 1had
never done before." All of the singers did a fantastic job at the Christmas
concert this year!
HARKTHE HERALD; Layth Khan (12), Seoyeon Hong (12), Isa Pardino (12),
and Chris Muller (11) all perform a song during the Christmas Concert.
Not only is the Christmas Concert a great way for Bishop musicians to
show off their talents, but it gets everyone in the holiday spirit. Chris says,
"1 love the Christmas Concert because I like Christmas music and listening
to it gets me in the holiday spirit." Many students and faculty members
alike flock to the Christmas Concert to kick off their holiday season.
5MPREME50PRAM05;Aoife Kelly (9), and Michelle Baek (12) gracefully play
the violin at the Christmas Concert. The violin is an instrument that might
be overlooked due to its subtle music, but it is very important to any
orchestra because of the high pitch and airiness that it brings. For Aoife
Kelly, the violin has been in her family for a while. Aoife says, "I started
playing the violin when 1was in the fifth grade because my brother played
the violin at the time." Hopefully, Aoife continues to play in Bishop's
Christmas Concerts.
DRMMMERB0*T; Ben Logan (11) plays the conga drums during the Christmas
Concert. The conga drums were very important to the concert, and Ben did
a fantastic job. Did you know that this specific type of drum originated in
Cuba made from empty barrels'.’ Since then, the conga drums have spread
around the world and have been embraced by musical groups globally.

guitar together, and always have lots of fun. (3wen says, "1
enjoy playing the guitar because we get to improve
ourselves every time we practice." For Daniel, Owen, and
Peter, guitar is an escape where they can all get better at
something that they love. In addition, they get to hang out
with one another and help each other get better while they
progress. It's
a win-win!
Man of Many
Talents
Mr. Quarles has already made a huge impact on the day to day life at
Bishop McGuinness. But what many people don't know is that Mr.
Quarles has done much more than the normal vice principal duties.
This year at the Christmas Concert Mr. Quarles played the trumpet as part of the orchestra. Dr. Hirsh was very
glad to have Mr. Quarles as a part of his group, and Mr. Quarles was glad to play with the students. Although
he does not have a permanent position in the orchestra, he is certainly qualified. Mr. Quarles has played the ri
trumpet since he was 10 years old, and has gotten quite good at it. The stately noise from Mr. Quarles and his
I trumpet was certainly a great addition to the other melodies present in Bishop's orchestra.

says, "Brittany has been a huge help this year. She has done a
great job keeping me and the rest of the team healthy." Brittany
loves getting to know all of her student patients, and Daniel is
no exception.
A Friend in Me
Brittany, the new athletic trainer at Bishop McGuinness, has already
made a huge impact on student athletes. Students say that her compassion,
generosity, and openness makes her one of the most amazing people to be
around. However, Brittany wasn't always a Villain. She went to high
school at Southeast Guilford at a time where there was a major basketball
rivalry between the Villains and Falcons. Unfortunately, when Brittany
was a junior she tore her ACL. She was devastated, but the athletic trainer
at Southeast Guilford helped her through every step of her injury, and
inspired her to work in sports medicine. This trainer is still a mentor to
Brittany, and they have become great friends. In college, Brittany
explored both physical therapy and athletic training, but realized her true
passion was athletic training. For her, athletic training is more rewarding
because she gets to see her patients progress from the moment they step
into the training room to the moment they get back on the field. One of
the qualities that makes Brittany so special is her ability to relate to the
athletes. She has been in the same position as all of them, and she inspires
them to keep pushing even when it seems impossible.
