and as a living laboratory, Galapagos is indeed a place where basic evolutionary
principles can be observed first hand. Charles Darwin famously visited the
archipelago in 1835 onboard the HMS Beagle. He stayed in the archipelago a mere
five weeks, yet his profound powers of observation were to change forever the
way we have come to understand how life has evolved. As important as it has
