Our globe-spanning local
access takes you places no
one else can.

The Most Extensive Network of Travel Experts

Wings Over the World journeys offer you unfettered
access to the authentic heart and soul of a place — to
people and sites far beyond the reach of the average
traveller. Underlying these inspiring experiences is the
most robust tour operator support network in the travel
industry — over 55 offices in more than 30 countries
around the world, all working 24/7 to uphold the same
impeccable standards. Unlike our competitors, we train
and manage our own full-time staff, orchestrating every
aspect of your journey with precision and flexibility
down to the last detail.

The Difference Local Access Makes

For A&K, having our own local staff is only the beginning.
We forge lasting, one-on-one relationships with the people
who know your destination best, from craftspeople and
chefs to experts in local art and history. Our itineraries
don’t come out of guidebooks — they’re the result of the
authentic connections established between our experts and
the friendly, hospitable local people who lend your journey
a unique and personal touch.

This means you experience each stop on your journey
from a truly local perspective, all while enjoying a
seamless travel experience in which every detail has
been anticipated by a dedicated on-site staff.

Resident Tour Directors with Deep Local Ties

Our Resident Tour Directors have lived for decades,
sometimes even their entire lives, in the places you
visit. Overseeing your entire journey, they accompany
you every day, sharing their unique understanding of
daily life, as well as your destination’s culture, history
and wildlife. The result is a journey that reveals the
real spirit of a place, connecting you to everyone and
everything you encounter in a way you’ll never forget.

Your small group unlocks
the door to experiences far
beyond the ordinary.

Ideal Group Sizes for Exploration

With an average limit of just 14 guests per departure,
Wings Over the World journeys feature exclusive
insider-access opportunities that make the most of
a small, intimate group size. Visit an olive farm for
a private tasting with its owner, a renowned author
and actress. Meet and mingle with locals in a village
outside of Jaipur. Enjoy a private concert at a
St. Petersburg museum, followed by caviar tasting
and Champagne. Each unscripted encounter opens
a unique window onto your destination, one that
is simply impossible to experience in a larger
group setting.

An Intimate Group of Like-Minded Travellers

Wings Over the World offers a more relaxed group
travel experience than you may have ever been a part
of before. You and your fellow guests bond quickly
and easily, bringing a sense of shared discovery that
only grows as you proceed in your travels together.
These bonds remain among the most treasured
mementos of your journey, and guests who meet on a
Wings journey are often soon making plans together
for their next.

More One-on-One Time with Your Resident
Tour Director and Expert Local Guides

Travelling in a small group also offers you more
one-on-one time with your A&K Resident Tour
Director and expert local guides, for even greater
opportunities to experience their unique firsthand
perspectives on each locale you visit.

A&K Philanthropy partners
with local communities to
empower lasting change.

Building on a Legacy of Partnership

In 1982, Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP)
began its journey of community partnership
with conservation efforts in the Masai Mara.
Today, AKP is honored to continue this ongoing
mission, partnering with local communities to
improve education, conservation, health care and
enterprise with more than 40 projects spanning
seven continents — a philanthropic commitment
unequalled in the travel industry.

Experience an AKP Project Firsthand

A number of our journeys offer opportunities to visit
an AKP partner community, affording a wealth of
moving experiences you won’t find anywhere else.
Whether it’s celebrating a newly opened maternity
ward or serving lunch to local schoolchildren,
many of our guests experience their journeys’ most
impactful moments during these visits.

Sharing Genuine Perspectives

AKP employs a team of dedicated Philanthropy
Coordinators stationed throughout the world,
allowing for deeper, more meaningful cultural
exchanges. From speaking with a local teacher in
a Kenyan village to witnessing the impact of clean
water wells in rural Cambodia, AKP Coordinators
facilitate the face-to-face interactions that reveal
the true fabric of these communities.

1 2 WINGS OVER THE WORLD | 2020–21

With more than 40 projects worldwide,
these are just a few of the ways our
AKP partner communities are shaping
lasting change.

EDUCATION

Children of the Rainbow School

In Peru’s Sacred Valley, this special school provides
an oasis of education and hope to the region’s least
privileged children.

CONSERVATION

South Georgia Heritage Trust

On the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia, a team
of scientists is racing to save one of the planet’s most
important seabird habitats.

HEALTH CARE

Cambodia Clean Water Project

Clean wells are turning the tides of waterborne illness
and fostering a healthier future for local families in a
rural Cambodian village.

ENTERPRISE

Chipego Bike Shop

In a Zambian village, a small group of local women
have turned a tiny co-op into an inspiringly successful
enterprise radiating prosperity throughout the region.

Philanthropy project on your Wings Over the World journey.

MENDOZA: ARGENTINA’S
ENCHANTING WINELANDS

From the mystique of its Malbec wines to the majesty of its high-desert
expanses at the foot of the Andes Mountains, the Mendoza region
is a dream destination. The city of Mendoza, with its wide, tree-lined
boulevards, charming plazas and friendly, relaxed atmosphere, is
backdropped by picturesque mountains, where stimulating outdoor
adventures await, including biking, hiking and horseback riding.

Mendoza is renowned as the largest wine-growing region in Latin
America. Blessed with warm sunny days — more than 300 of them a year
on average — and cool, grape-nurturing nights, the terroir here is unique,
yielding vintages that appeal to diverse and discerning palates.

The region’s signature Malbec grape, which originated in the damp
of France, thrives in Mendoza’s arid surroundings. Its bold taste and
outstanding value have helped make it a worldwide favorite, along with
other superb wines produced locally. Mendoza is also noted for its olives,
and the fine oil derived from them.

Wings Over Chile, Argentina & Brazil includes an exceptional three-
night sojourn in Mendoza that offers you the opportunity to experience
the wines, culture and landscapes of this starkly beautiful land alongside
the finest local experts.

ST. PETERSBURG AND
BERLIN REBORN

Three generations ago, at the end of World War II, Berlin, Germany,
lay in rubble, the demolished capital of a defeated nation. Likewise,
St. Petersburg, Russia, then bearing its Soviet name, Leningrad, was
the war-weary survivor of a siege mounted by the German army that
had lasted for 900 brutal days.

Rebuilding these two living landmarks of Europe took far more than
time, brick and mortar. Both cities are testaments to the resilience of the
human spirit, and the longing of two peoples to heal and reclaim their
standing on the world scene.

Today, Berlin and St. Petersburg are cities reborn, must-see travel
destinations where history mingles with the hottest trends in culture and
cuisine. From dinner in the Reichstag to the echoes of the Cold War,
A&K invites you to experience the best Berlin has to offer. And whether
it’s a cruise of its relaxing canals or a before-hours stroll through the
Hermitage, you’ll discover St. Petersburg in consummate A&K style.

Explore them, along with other Northern European gems like London,
Reykjavik and Bergen, on an expertly crafted Wings Over the World

LEGACY OF THE MOORS

Spain and Morocco are both nations with rich and colorful histories
influenced by many cultures down through centuries — but perhaps by
none more so than that of the Moors. The Moorish presence here began
when Muslims from eastern North Africa, including Berbers and Arabs,
expanded westward and northward across the Mediterranean Sea. In
711 they conquered Visigothic Hispania (the Iberian Peninsula). Later,
the Berber Revolt in the Maghreb — a region that includes modern-day
Morocco — led to eventual Moorish rule along the southern coast of
the Mediterranean.

Over the next 700 years, the Moors developed a culture devoted
to Islam, while remaining comparatively tolerant of other religions.
They built magnificent mosques and impressive seats of learning,
including some of the oldest continuously operating universities in
the world. Christian Europeans waged a centuries-long war dubbed
the Reconquista to reclaim Iberia, which culminated in 1492. Moorish
power later faded across Morocco as well.

Today, A&K’s superb Resident Tour Directors and local guides excel at
providing visitors with an in-depth understanding of the Moors’ legacy
of lyrical architecture, tantalizing cuisine and commitment to education,
which still influences life throughout the region.

ANCIENT CULTURES
LINKED BY THE SEA

Few bodies of water on earth have played a more central role in the
development of human civilization than the Mediterranean Sea. It was
here that the ancient Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans sailed forth
to explore new lands, do battle and conduct trade, spreading aspects
of their distinctive cultures into Europe, Asia, North Africa and the
Middle East as they went.

Time and tide rolled on, and new dynasties arose. The Moors
conquered the northern coast of Africa and ruled Iberia for seven
centuries, until the crusader knights overcame them, leaving their own
mark on Mediterranean history. Later still came the Venetians, who
used their economic, cultural and naval might to dominate life on and
around the sea.

Wings Over the Mediterranean is designed to reveal the common
threads these bygone peoples wove throughout the entire region
during their travels, and to discern remnants of their faded cultures that
still linger today in the destinations you visit.

Only A&K’s ability to craft one-of-a-kind itineraries utilizing privately

AT THE CROSSROADS
OF EMPIRES

The lands of present-day Greece and Turkey have been trod by many
peoples of many eras, sometimes linking East with West, and at other
times dividing them. The armies of vast empires have swept across
these crossroads again and again, driven by the ambitions of legendary
leaders and bringing with them immeasurable cultural change.

As the birthplace of democracy and the ancient home of philosophy,
mathematics, theater and more, Greek culture was once without peer.
In the Bronze Age, circa 3000 BC, the Greek island of Crete was
home to the Minoan culture, a progenitor of Classical Greece and, by
extension, Western Civilization itself. Your visit to the ruins of the palace
of Knossos reveals the grace of Minoan architecture and art.

Turkey has witnessed its own share of momentous historical turning
points, from the first establishment of Christianity as an organized
religion in Constantinople to its role as the hub of the vast Ottoman
empire that ruled the region for 600 years. Whether ballooning over
Cappadocia or appreciating the quiet majesty of Hagia Sophia on a
private, before-hours visit, Turkey holds an inimitable appeal.

This amazing journey by private air takes you in a matter of days across
two countries steeped in a shared history that took centuries to unfold.
