Great Southern Homes believes in giving back to the communities we help to build. Ned Purcell of Great Southern Homes
designed a 5068 square foot cottage at no cost to Boys Farm in Newberry, South Carolina. Boys Farm is a nonprofit organiza-
tion that provides unique foster care services for boys experiencing difficult family situations located at 6655 SC Highway
34/121 in Newberry, SC.
President and founder of Great Southern Homes, Michael Nieri volunteered to build the home on behalf of the Building
Industry Association with help from the BIA's Charitable Foundation. "We were honored to help accommodate the growing
need for children to have a safe home and give them hope for generations to come," said Nieri.
The cottage is expected to serve as a prototype for future
cottages in the 50 year expansion plan for Boys Farm. The
new cottage will allow Boys Farm to increase the number of
children served by 25%. The cottage is named in memory of
William Tobin "Toby" Cassels. Toby, known for his energetic
leadership, as a motivator, and for his persistence, was
studying business at USC when he passed away last year at
the age of 21.
If you would like to join Great Southern Homes and the
BIA in supporting "Toby's Cottage", donations are being
accepted by the HBA Charitable Foundation, a South
Carolina nonprofit 501(c)3 organization associated with the
Building Industry Association, 625 Taylor Street, Columbia
SC, or to Boys Farm Inc., a South Carolina nonprofit
501(c)3 organization, PO Box 713, Newberry, SC.
Boys Farm is committed to not take loans
Boys Farm is 100% privately funded, does not take loans for construction or to buy
land, and is a debt free organization. The Building Industry Association of Central
South Carolina (BIA) along with Great Southern Homes has teamed up with Boys
Farm and others to lead this effort. We need your help with labor, materials, and
funding! We plan to build 2 new homes by summer 2015.
Boys Farm was founded in 1960 and is a United Way of the Midlands Partner, Member of SCANPO, NACCFA, and PAFCAF. Contributions are 501 (c) 3 Tax Deductible
