Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. It is a day filled with lots of
excitement, joy and happiness as students eagerly look forward to
tell their teachers how and why they are special to them.
Teachers’ Day celebrates the unique role that teachers play in the
lives of young minds and in turn help shape the future of a
country.
Daffodils English School celebrated Teachers’ Day virtually on
the 5th September 2021. The students put together a wonderful
program which included an invocation, song, dance and a
documentary highlighting the efforts taken by teachers to make
sure children do not miss out on education during the
pandemic.
The alumni of the school created videos with messages
thanking the teachers for nurturing, guiding, instilling values
and being there for them whenever they needed support or

14th September every year is celebrated as ‘Hindi Diwas’. “Hindi is the
symbol of our social and cultural unity and is the main connecting
language of the people of India. The knowledge and application of Hindi
language is a powerful tool in the hands of Indians.”
Students tried to spread the message “Hindi hamaari shaan hai; desh
ka abhimaan hai.” Students emphasized that we should be proud of
our national language and should learn to speak in the public domain
without any hesitation. This urged everyone to feel proud of our official
language, Hindi. The students were made aware of the significance of
Hindi language and were urged to make an endeavor to learn and
enhance Hindi communication skills so that they can enjoy the language.
Students expressed the importance of Hindi and the way it is accepted as
an official language. Students from Grades 6 to 10 recited poems by
famous Hindi poets and brought about the richness and beauty of the
language.
Children thoroughly enjoyed the activities as part of the Hindi Diwas. It
was an enriching virtual celebration of the Hindi Diwas that reached out
to the students in their homes.
Rendezvous with the future – Exploring future prospects...
An interactive session was organized for the students of Grades 9
and 10 – [Economic Applications] with the first batch of
Economic Applications students of the year 2018—2019.
The session was organized to give the students an idea of the var-
ious options available with the first-hand experience and advise
of the seniors acting as guiding principles.
The students who addressed the session were Vibha Kamat, Aditi
Shetty, S.Purvika, Mihir Joshi, Andrew Winston,
Vishal Nagaraj and Sai Kshitij. These students are poised to
pursue their graduate courses in various branches of commerce
and economics. Hence, this workshop was conducted to give an
encouraging insight to the students.
The Guest speakers gave clear and concise information which
was well received by the students. Their queries were well
answered by the seniors. The icing on the cake in this hour long
session were the experiences shared with the students by our dear
Secretary.
In all, it was an eventful session for the Economic Applications
students of Grades 9 and 10.
Grade 1 students had activity-based learning to understand the concept
of "Adjectives".
Each child had to come on camera and show different objects that he/
she came across. The child had to describe those objects and tell the
different adjectives used to describe them.
It was a wonderful and interactive session.
Grade 1 students understood the properties of water while learning a les-
son on the same in EVS.
Children discussed and spoke about the properties of water by having a
glass of water during the class. They shared their observations which
included water being shapeless, colorless, odorless and tasteless.
Children enjoyed the hands-on activity by coming on camera and
learned the concept effortlessly.
'The whole cap came off…must have been a recap'- quote by Dale
Earnhardt Jr.
Embrace active revision techniques...
This was followed for the recap sessions for Grades 6 and 7 students for
Chemistry and Biology classes respectively.
Reading textbook and notes is a passive revision technique which doesn’t
fully engage our brain. Active revision is more efficient as it provides
many benefits. It makes our brain work, it activates the memory centers
of our brain, and makes stronger memories of the information that we
are trying to take in. It makes us re-assess the information that we think
we might know, and also will force us to work towards re-learning it. It
is more interesting than passive revision exercises.
Here are the snippets of the students who used examples from daily life
to explain-solids can have any number of free surfaces, they do not need
a medium to hold, use of magnets for separation of mixtures etc.
Students of Grade 7 also used regular dough and created model to
explain binary fission in Amoeba...
