We Gather to Praise God

Gathering Music

Prelude Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing Arr. Chris Rice
Rev. Jimmy Sherrod
Welcome The Spirit of God be with you! And also with you! Rev. Stephanie Parrott

Opening Prayer UMH 88

Call to Worship Rev. Parrott

A wind breathes among us,
calling us to gather in the name of the Holy One.

A fire burns within us,
calling us to service, calling us to prayer.

A spirit moves around us,
calling us to turn in joy toward the sorrows of the world.

Burning, breathing, Spirit of Compassion,
we bring our lives to you. Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Opening Song Maker, in Whom We Live (vv. 1-3)

Maker, in whom we live, in whom we are and move,
the glory, power, and praise receive for thy creating love.

Let all the angel throng give thanks to God on high,
while earth repeats the joyful song and echoes to the sky.

Incarnate Deity, let all the ransomed race
render in thanks their lives to thee for thy redeeming grace.
The grace to sinners showed ye heavenly choirs proclaim,

and cry “Salvation to our God, salvation to the Lamb!”

Spirit of Holiness, let all thy saints adore
thy sacred energy, and bless thine heart renewing power.

Not angel tongues can tell thy love’s ecstatic height,
the glorious joy unspeakable, the beatific sight.

We Respond to God’s Great Love

Song Spirit of God The Faith We Sing 2117

Spirit of God, bright Wind, breath that bids life begin,
blow as you always do; create us anew.

Give us the breath to sing, lifted on soaring wings,
held in your hands, borne on your wings.

[Refrain] Alleluia! Come, Spirit, come! Alleluia! Come, Spirit come!

Spirit of God, bright Flame, send us in your holy name,
the power to heal, to share your love everywhere.
We cannot fail or fall, or know defeat at all,
held in your hands, borne on your wings. [Refrain]

A Pentecost Prayer

For the gift of Your Spirit we praise you, our God. We have come to You by the Spirit’s conviction.
We have new life through the Spirit’s indwelling.

We are made Your children by the Spirit’s adoption.
We witness and serve by the Spirit’s empowerment.
And we yearn to be more like Christ because of the Spirit’s urgings.

Continue, we pray, your gracious work,
so that we may walk in this world free from the bondage of sin,
and free to do Your will in the glorious liberty of Your children through Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Offering Our Gifts Pie Jesu Faure

We Are Scattered to Serve God In Our World

*Closing Song Blessed Assurance (vv. 1,3) UMH 369

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

[Refrain] This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above, filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

[Refrain]

Benediction
