Prelude We Gather to Praise God arr. Fasing & Innes
Welcome Rev. Jimmy Sherrod
Opening Prayer Come Thou Almighty King
Opening Hymn Carolyn Cottrell and Charles Parham

The Spirit of God be with you! And also with you!

O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise,

the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!
My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim,
to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name.
Jesus! The name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease;
‘tis music in the sinners ears, ‘tis life, and health, and peace.
He speaks, and listening to his voice, new life the dead receive;
the mournful, broken hearts rejoice, the humble poor believe.

Call to Worship Rev. Stephanie Parrott

Every time we feel the Spirit…
Moving in our hearts, we will pray.

On an ordinary day, there came a sound like a powerful wind and filled a house.
Tongues of fire released the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Every time we feel the Spirit
Moving in our hearts, we will pray.

In languages from all over the world, people began to prophesy.
Pour out your Spirit, O God. Help us to see visions, dream dreams, and draw upon your power.

Every time we feel the Spirit
Move in our hearts, we pray. Receive our praise, renew our minds, grant us grace,
and empower us with your Spirit. Amen.

Scripture We Listen to Hear God’s Voice Rev. Parrott

Acts 2:1-11

Hymn Every Time I Feel the Spirit (vv. 1) UMH 404

Every time I feel the spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.
Yes, every time I feel the spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.

Upon the mountain, my Lord spoke,
out his mouth came fire and smoke.

All around me looks so shine,
ask my Lord if all was mine. (Refrain)

Every time I feel the spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.
Yes, every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.

Spirit of God (vv. 1, 4)

Spirit of God, bright Wind, breath that bids life begin,
glow as you always do; create us anew.

Give us the breath to sing, lifted on soaring wing,
held in your hands, born on your wings.
Alleluia! Come, Spirit, Come! (2 times)

Spirit of God, bright Flame, send us in your holy name,
the power to heal, to share your love everywhere.
We cannot fail or fall, or know defeat at all,
held in your hands, born on your wings.
Alleluia! Come, Spirit, Come! (2 times)
