Global Learning – Definition
Global Learning is concerned with exploring
the interconnections between people and
places around the world.
It asks us to observe the similarities and
differences that exist around our world
today and relate these to our own lives.
It is not an 'additional subject' to cram into
an overcrowded curriculum but goes the
heart of what education is for.
Skills for the Global Teacher
Global Learning – Purpose
Educational practice in Nigeria requires a new
strategy to achieve quality teaching
Learning takes place in such a diverse ethnic,
cultural and religious environment.
To be part of the community of Global Teachers
global aspirations have to be embedded professional
practice.

Skills for the Global Teacher
The Role of Teachers
'Teachers... ultimately determine our
collective ability to innovate, to invent,
to find solutions for tomorrow. Nothing
will ever replace a good teacher. Nothing
is more important than supporting them'
(UNESCO, 2012).
Skills for the Global Teacher
The Role of the Teacher
The role of the teacher should be to keep
possibilities open and equip learners to engage
critically with each possibility, to listen and
negotiate ethically with others, and to analyse
and take responsibility for the implications of their
choices.
(Vanessa Andreotti on Postcolonialism in Learning )
