provided some Flagship training recently,
when a customer stepped in to thank them.
J. W. Ramshur, a contractor in Humble,
told James all about the excellent service
he receives from HOLT CAT in Longview.
Turns out, Ramshur and Sons, Inc. is in
another Cat dealer’s territory, but they
prefer to go to Longview because HOLT
does such a good job. James writes, “J. W.
mentioned that the service techs there are
really fantastic and couldn’t say enough
about how much he appreciates the quality
of the equipment and the service that HOLT
provides.”

A big high five to the techs in Longview for

HOLT PROTECH! Adapts to Online

HOLT ProTech is moving technical training online to continue to
support the organization. In mid-March, ProTech delivered three
courses including two MSHA Refresher courses and a hydraulic
systems course using large monitors and Zoom video conferencing to
conduct training. Instructors are reaching out to customers to find new
ways to deliver training.

“Ten Field Service Techs were able to attend an MSHA Refresher
course from home allowing them to stay safe,” says MSHA Instructor,
Nathan Bryson.

Machine Instructor Steve Wilson, noted, “This past week, we had five
technicians in our hydraulic systems course. It was the next best thing
to actually being there.” Co-instructor Daryl Neill added, “Students
enjoyed the course with a lot of interaction and online collaboration.”

Gas engine customers also benefit. Instructor Errol Pinto will be
conducting a Gas Engine ET and GERP course for eight students next week for one of HOLT’s key customers.

There are recently-added courses promoting employee self-care and virtual management. “We partnered with Cornerstone and The Safety
Department to upload training courses relating to safety and help with managing virtual teams,” says @my Classroom Administrator
Sylvia Hanley. ProTech also is creating short how-to videos on engine and electrical training labs that will be available in @my
Classroom to reinforce the online courses. - Shaun Manning

More Energy Toward Energy

HOLT has extensive operations supporting the petroleum and electric
power markets, and there is more we can do. Solar, microgrids, battery
storage and other alternative energy sources provide ample opportunities
to expand our operations and solve the challenges
facing our customers and our communities. We need
to stay vigilant and adapt to what the energy market
requires.

Paul Cosper, Vice President-Power System Sales,
said, “Energy is going to change and it’s going to be
very dynamic and fluid. We’re going to see a change
from oil to natural gas and to renewables in terms
of solar and wind. We have to really research this technology to really
understand it and seek opportunities in the markets we serve. This is
similar to looking into the D6XE–the diesel electric powertrain that
machines are already transitioning into: stored energy into a hybrid energy
system.”

Craig Floyd, General Manager-HOLT Renewables, stated the U.S.
Energy Agency forecasts that renewables will make up 38% of the
electricity power mix by 2050, up from 19% today. Natural gas is forecast
to drop only slightly from 37% today to 36% by 2050. HOLT Renewables
is positioned to grow market share along with growth of the industry,
currently building solar PV and battery energy storage power plants
nationwide.

In the private sector, Toyota Motor Manufacturing has hired HOLT
Renewables to build solar power plants at their Alabama and Missouri
manufacturing facilities and are currently looking at adding solar in the
Texas, Kentucky, and West Virginia facilities. “In the public sector we are
very active in wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, and
landfill project development. We begin construction of a power plant at
Vallecitos WTP, California in March, and Alameda Landfill in California
in May,” Floyd said.
