Dear Parent/Carer

This is slightly different from our usual ‘newsletter’ but
thought it was a good opportunity to ‘touch base’ with you
all.

It certainly is different times. We are missing all of you
and your children and hope you are all safe. The last two
weeks were a ‘school holiday’. Tomorrow it is ‘back to
school’ but not as we know it. Your child/ren’s teachers
will be contacting you via GLOW with some suggestions
for activities to complete. In NO way should we be
recreating the school day at home. Baking/arts and
crafts/being in the garden/playing games are all valuable
things to be doing. So much of our learning at school is
active and these activities are perfect for that! Mrs
Gibson has put together the leaflet below which has lots
of resources to ‘tap into’ as well. This has LOADS of ideas
– and they are just to support you if you wish!

Can I remind you I can be contacted by email
[email protected] or on
07849130986. We love to see all the children, send any
pictures of what you have been up to and we can share on
Twitter. We also need for our learning journey when back
in school!

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide a wealth of resources for
children to learn at home. It provides access to resources which can
be completed online and resources for use if access to digital
technology is not available.

Although there are a lot of resources here, these are just suggestions
- please keep in mind that children should be inquisitive and have the
chance to keep active as well.

TV Resources

The BBC will offer daily programmes to help parents and children with
schoolwork at home during the lockdown.
Starting on 20 April, videos, quizzes, podcasts and articles will appear
on BBC Bitesize Daily via the BBC iPlayer, red button, BBC Four and
BBC Sounds.
The initiative will include 14 weeks of core subject learning to offer
"rhythm and routine" for pupils "whatever your child's age".
The BBC was offering six 20-minute programmes on air daily on BBC
iPlayer and red button, and would cover core subjects including Maths,
English and science, with guidance from experts and teachers.

Digital Resources

Some of the resources in this document will be online.

All children in the school have access to a glow account. This provides
them with an email address and various apps from the glow Launchpad
(google classroom, Microsoft office, outlook email, google drive, useful
websites/apps etc.).

Logging in to glow
A google search for glow will show the following result:

Once the link has been clicked, you will be taken to the sign in page
which looks like this:

At this point, your username should be entered. It will begin with gw
followed by your computer login details and then the domain
@glow.sch.uk. For example, [email protected]
You should then enter your password and you will be logged in to the
platform.
Your password can be reset by a member of school staff if you
have forgotten. Remember to keep your password safe and secure!
