Head Teacher’s Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Term 2 is well under way with many new clubs - we are
delighted there is something on offer after school for every
stage in the school!
There have been a few changes/additions to the calendar
section at the end of this newsletter. Following parental
requests, the Christmas Service will be in Kilwinning Old
Parish (Kilwinning Abbey) on Thursday 19th December at
9.30am. We hope you can keep this date free and join us -
coffee/tea and mince pies will be served in school after this.
A wee reminder that Jade, our Family Learning Worker is
with us every Monday. She is happy to work with you and
your child individually, or meet with you to discuss any issues
you may have. Just drop in and ask to speak to her.
We also have Elaine Connor, our Area Inclusion Worker, with
us every Wednesday afternoon. She too
can support you and/or your child with a
whole range of issues including
wellbeing.
In partnership,
Susan Lauder
Head Teacher
Message from the Office
Dear Parent/Carers
Could we please encourage you all to download our school
Xpressions app if you have not already done so? All you
need to do is make sure we have your email address. This
helps with communication between school and home which
we always strive to improve upon. If you are unsure what to
do with this, please pop in to school and we can assist.
A letter is coming out next week with information about the
pantomime. We have paid this out of our school funds which
is money we raise to help subsidise trips, treats etc as this
can’t be paid for from our budget allocation. As we have
already paid the buses and the panto our school funds are
very low. We would hope families could return panto money
and forms ASAP.
Could we also urge you to look at the new school menu with
your child? We are often making phone calls home to ask
for a packed lunch to be provided - looking at the menu in
advance would be really appreciated.
Kind regards
Mrs Smith

Harvest at
Blacklands
It was really lovely to walk to Kilwinning Old Parish to
celebrate Harvest. We had a lovely collection of dried
foods for North Ayrshire Foodbank.
Mrs Wilde took some boys and girls to deliver this to the
Foodbank in Ardrossan. We were delighted that we
managed to donate 40kgs of food which is enough to feed
three families of 4 for several days.
HALLOWEEN DISCO
This year’s
Halloween Disco
was a huge success!
A MASSIVE ‘thank
you’ to our super
Parent Council and
extended network of
helpers. You go
above and beyond
and we all
appreciate it!
We were most
impressed by
the creative
home made
costumes-
Halloween the
way we used
to do it!
All our children
had a really great
night and enjoyed
the disco, the
games and the
treats.
FUN FRIDAY
Our ‘Magical Money Makers' organised ‘Fun Friday’
raising money for the Ayrshire Hospice and with the help
of P7 organising a really fun day for everyone.
An extended ‘thank you’ to our volunteers who helped
on the day!
We made £90 for the Ayrshire Hospice! A great effort!
PIZZA PARTY!
We have three houses in the school and children
work hard to earn points for their house.
Last term’s winning house was BRUCE and they
voted (unanimously) for a pizza party. It was a
huge success!
I wonder who will win this term?
