Bulletin 10

Bulletin 10

Headteacher Bulletin #10 (5.11.21)

Dear Parent/Carer

We have had a great week of teaching and
learning at Blacklands this week. We didn’t
manage to Kilwinning Academy on Wednesday
due to some issues they were having, but we
were delighted that the Sports Leaders came
to us!

Our new lunchtime clubs went really well and we
had great participation from all classes
involved.

Our new ‘ipayimpact’ system for lunches is
working well. However, for any parent/carers
who are experiencing problems with the new
cashless system, we would ask that you email
your enquiry to:

[email protected]

We are really enjoying our ‘House Gatherings’
which allows us to meet in smaller groups,
(Bruce, Douglas and Wallace) out in the
playground. These are weather permitting (we
don’t go out if heavy rain) – and so far we have
been fairly lucky! Our ‘House Gathering’ allow
our senior management team time to share
some ‘big messages’ with the children, give
children opportunities to talk about learning
across the school, then finish with an inter-
house quiz! This week, we were showing
children our new house point system. Children
will be awarded a ‘token’ from their teacher or
support staff for e.g. great focus, following
our values, being ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe’
or perhaps completing a piece of work
particularly well. They will then ‘post’ the
token in our house point collector which is
located in the hall. At the end of each term
there will be a ‘count’ and a treat awarded to
our winning house. We hope to see the point
collector fill up really quickly!

A reminder that we have a holiday weekend
approaching. School is closed on Thursday 18th
November for a staff in-service day. Friday
19th and Monday 22nd is a school holiday.

We hope that all our boys and girls, along with
their families have a very happy and safe
’Bonfire Night’. We have been talking about
how to keep safe around fireworks – ask your
child/ren what they have been learning.

As always, if you have any questions, queries
or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me:
[email protected].

In Partnership,

Susan Lauder
