Headteacher Bulletin #24 (18.2.22)
Dear Parent/Carer
It has been a tricky week at Blacklands, with
reduced staffing and classes being covered…
even a remote learning day for P5/6. Thank you
for your support and cooperation. Mrs Wilde
will continue to be in P4/5 until our new teacher
is in post. I am delighted to let share that Mrs
Michelle Ramsay was our successful candidate
and she will join us as the P4/5 teacher in
March. She is currently at Abbey Primary, and
brings a wealth of experience to this new post.
Some of you already know that we work closely
with ‘The Exchange’ counselling service, with
some of our children working with a counsellor
in school. ‘The Exchange’ have added a section
to their website for parent/carers – this
section includes resources, activities and advice
on supporting your child/ren with their
psychological wellbeing. This may be of
interest, and can be accessed at:
www.exchange-resource.net/parents
Our Eco council have met a few times this
session and are organizing a ‘Ragbag’
collection. Bags and letters will be home with
details of what can be collected and how this
raises funds for our school.
Due to the weather forecast, we have
postponed the girl’s football club. This will now
start next Friday afternoon for P4-7 from
2.45-3.30pm. If your child has not received a
consent form for this and would like to
attend, please contact the office. We will
restart the cross country club on Monday
28th February, a week later than originally
planned, for P4-7 boys and girls. Consent
forms will be sent home next week.
We have just taken delivery of a new
polytunnel which will be erected in the school
grounds. We have planters for all classes and
look forward to developing our outdoor
learning further and looking at some gardening
projects. As always, help is welcome. If this is
an area of expertise or you have time available
to support this, please get in touch.
As usual, if you have any questions, queries or
concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me:
[email protected].
In Partnership,
Susan Lauder
