Headteacher Bulletin #8 (22.10.21)
Dear Parent/Carer
We have had a very busy first week of term 2…
lots of ‘buzz’ around our school. We also have
had some staffing issues and this has resulted
in our senior management team being in class
more than usual. This means that there may be
times it will take longer to return a phone call
than usual, please bear with us as we do our
best here.
A huge ‘well done’ to our boys and girls who
represented our school yesterday at the Cross
Country event at Kilwinning Sports Club. It was
great to see the enthusiasm and effort shown.
Our P3-7 ‘supporters’ did a great job too –
displaying our school values out in the
community. Thank you also to our parents who
accompanied us there and back – as well as our
supporters. Much appreciated! It was lovely to
be back doing something a bit more ‘normal’.
Before the pandemic you may remember we
launched ‘Children’s University’ at Blacklands.
Many of our boys and girls were involved in
this great opportunity, which supported them
to complete fun activities to build their
knowledge and skills outside of the classroom.
We are now delighted to be able to offer this
fabulous programme once more. You can also
have a look at the new Aspire video created by
children who already participate in Children’s
University from other schools to give you a
flavour of what it’s all about. We will send the
link for this in a separate message for you to
access. Look out for a leaflet and form in bags
next week to complete and return if you would
like your child/ren to take part. Please
complete the form, even if you signed up
previously. Due to continuing restrictions, we
will be running this club at lunchtime in class
bubbles. Mrs Wilde and Mr Graham will
initially run these, but we will be looking for
pupil ambassadors to take on this role.
A reminder to please ensure that children
come to school with a warmer/waterproof
jacket and perhaps a hat and gloves as the
weather gets colder. P3-7 are walking to
Kilwinning Academy every second week for PE
and we will be continuing focused outdoor
learning each day.
Primary 6 are heading to Inverclyde on
Thursday for 2 days. Parent/carers, please
return your child’s EV5 form on Monday.
As usual, if you have any questions, queries or
concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me:
[email protected].
In Partnership,
Susan Lauder
