OTHER INFORMATION YOU WISH TO INCLUDE
Tips for Success: Review the material by scanning / reading in advance. Retention and understanding are
heightened during class as the theory is presented to you in lecture. Stick to a study routine to ensure that you
stay on top of the curriculum. We will be moving fast and we want for all of us to be together as we cross the
finish line. Feel free to schedule study groups outside of class.
Instructor background: Cass Tang has taught courses for the University of Washington, Sound Transit, Pierce
Transit, and several corporations including Group Health, Clearwater Paper, United State Gypsum, Hytek
Finishes / Esterline, Puget Sound School Districts. In addition, she has managed projects as small as a few
months and a handful of folks to multi-year projects with over 100 direct and indirect resources. This diversity of
clients and challenges has added to the overflowing project management toolbox that Cass will share along with
providing the foundation for you to springboard your career in project management. Cass’s family of four is lives
in the Pacific Northwest where she and her son and daughter are University of Washington Huskies and her
husband is an avid Husky sports fan!
Approach: The material is presented in a logical fashion. The project management processes will first be
broken down into discrete pieces. This helps to categorize the material for your internal file cabinets for ease of
future retrieval. We will then combine pieces in a concurrent fashion that more simulates a real-life scenario.
Lastly, we will apply the concepts learned in breakout sessions. Most adults learn by “doing.” Since this is an
evening course, will be more interactive and leverage experiential exercises.
Expectations: This course is a pathway into your future professional career. The instructors will be dressed in
their typical project management “business casual” attire. It is said that you feel the way you look, take this
opportunity to dress in a professional manner. You never know who you may meet, even in class, who may be a
potential referral or employer. Be on time to class. Project managers are either early or on time. They must set
the bar and be a role model for the project team.
