What to do on Dhanteras:
Before we talk about Dhanteras let us throw a caution in the air. It is not safe to step outside in
crowded markets to shop for Dhanteras so try and limit your time outside the shop. You should

Usually it is believed that buying gold and silver fetches financial benefits throughout the year
but some of you might not be able to afford those expensive gold and silver ornaments.

1. Remember that the size of what you buy does not matter so you can buy utensils or
small pieces of jewelry. Also, it is not necessary to buy gold and silver.

2. You can focus on buying other things without having to worry about affordability and
prosperity by buying Sabut Chawal (Akshat). It is believed that buying Sabut Chawal
brings prosperity.

What to do on Chhoti Diwali

A day before Diwali is the Chhoti Diwali which is also known as ‘Narak Chaudas’ in some
places of India. Narak Chaudas is the day to clean all those dirty corners of your houses so that
Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha visits your house and blesses you with wealth and prosperity.
However, you can do something extra to impress the gods and goddess to find their favour. On
the evening of Chhoti Diwali:

1. light four small clay oil lamps (Diya) at pooja ghar, near to water (kitchen is the best
place), at Tulsi plant and near to Locker (Galla).

2. And a big four-sided clay oil lamp (Chaumukhi Diya) on the main gate of your house.
