Foreword by the Chief Director of Education of Malaysia 109 dan kerjasama padu semua dalam memberikan yang terbaik. Pkharuddin bin Hj. Ghazali Chief Director of Education of Malaysia 4
Assalamualaikum w.b.t and greetings, Alhamdulillah, I would like to extend my utmost congratulations to the Yearbook Editorial Board for completing this year’s yearbook. This yearbook serves as a resurrection of what was previously known as “Cemerlang” which has now evolved to an online magazine. As my years in Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka (KYSM) come to a close, I have always wanted a sort of time capsule that I could look back on many years to come. This yearbook serves exactly that purpose. Many Message by the Head Boy 2023/24 Muhammad Danish Deniel bin Afendi Head Boy 2023/24 years have passed without a yearbook, but now, 2023/2024, we are privileged to have our hostel life, academic achievements, moments of triumph, and life-altering experiences presented proudly in this yearbook’s edition. This yearbook is more than just a collection of pages bound together, the people of KYSM get to commemorate a story with chapters encapsulated within the covers of this yearbook. Thank you to the Yearbook Editorial Board for the tireless dedication in completing this year’s yearbook. I would say that the journey of my high school life wasn’t all unicorn and rainbows. It was a mixture of exhaustion and joy. Nonetheless, I’m grateful to have the privilege to elucidate the transformation I have undergone throughout my high school journey. KYSM has provided us with the best platforms to build ourselves up into attractive individuals that are capable of bringing positive change to those around us. I would like to take this chance to thank the architects of our future, our teachers. They deserve our utmost appreciation. The individuals who leave a permanent mark on the tapestry of our intellectual growth. Not to forget, my beloved parents. Thank you for being the pillar of my strength. Your sacrifices have paved the way for my growth and I am grateful for every inch of it. Before I head off and decide on another roadmap for a completely different phase of my life, remember to always surround yourself with a positive and uplifting circle. The environment of people around you shapes your perspectives and ultimately sculptures the person you become. They are the ones who will help you attain greater heights. Thank you. Message by the Head Girl 2023/24 Jasmine Hasya binti Junaidi Head Girl 2023/24 10
Our dedicated team of writers, editors, photographers, designers, contributors, and the Editorial Board as a whole poured their hearts into every page, striving to encapsulate the essence of KYSM. From the contagious enthusiasm of sports events to the quiet focus of the classroom, from the uproarious applause of the halls to the serene moments in the resource centre — each section is a snapshot of the vibrant life that defines us. I have a profound appreciation for preserving memories. This sentiment led me to contemplate the revival of our school's yearbook, which had been absent for several years. Regrettably, I only took the initiative to do so in my final year of secondary school. In hindsight, I wish I had started earlier to capture more than just one year of my experiences in KYSM on my bookshelf. I hope this yearbook project persists for many years to come, allowing future generations of KYSM to hold onto their school memories in a tangible way. To my dear juniors, I offer you these words of encouragement; seize every moment, cherish every friendship, and never underestimate the power of perseverance. As you navigate the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead, remember that although academic accolades is important for success, the strength of character, resilience, and integrity that you exhibit along the way are just as significant. Dream boldly, strive for excellence relentlessly, and reach for greater heights Here's to the countless stories told, the lessons learned, and the enduring friendships that will accompany us into the next chapter of our lives. Congratulations to all. 11 Assalamualaikum and greetings, It is with great joy and a tinge of nostalgia that I present to you the culmination of a year's worth of memories, captured within the pages of this yearbook. As the Editor-in-Chief, it is both an honour and a privilege to welcome you to the visual journey of our academic adventure. In the hustle and bustle of school life, we often find ourselves caught up in the whirlwind of assignments, examinations, and activities. This yearbook, however, serves as a chance to reflect, reminisce, and appreciate the tapestry of moments that make up our academic year. Message by theEditor-in-Chief, Yearbook 2023/24 Syed Farihin Aiman bin Syed Sahibulbahri Editor-in-Chief
S e c r a t a r y ( A m n i ) Though many challenges were faced, I am really glad that this yearbook is finally published. Given this opportunity to be the secretary of KYS Yearbook 23/24 has been a really great experience for me. This yearbook contains summaries of every event and background for all the organizations and people of the KYS itself, from there the school and visitors will have the chance to see KYS from its best perspective. Therefore, I really hope that the KYS Yearbook continues to thrive towards the better as it will create unforgettable memories for the students as well as the teachers. T r e a s u r e r ( Z a r a ) Having this yearbook published was no small task, but I am immensely grateful to be a part of this team as the treasurer. Despite the challenges, we've brought this yearbook to life, safekeeping all the events that had occurred in KYS throughout the year so that they will not only leave an imprint on our minds and hearts, but also be imprinted on paper so that future generations can also feel the vibrancy and life we brought to session 23/24. I envision that the yearbook will continue for years to come, and continues to evolve and improve with each passing year. h e a d e d i t o r ( A y r a ) Publishing this yearbook was definitely not an easy feat, but I am extremely thankful to have been entrusted as the Head Editor. After years of emptiness, with no keepsake to record kolej events, I am certain that the yearbook is capable of filling the void, cherishing all the memories of KYS throughout the year. Certainly, I hope this publication becomes a tradition and continues for years to come. h e a d w r i t e r ( A r i a n a ) It has been an honor to be part of such an amazing team and an unforgettable project. It is hoped that everyone goes down a trip to memory lane and appreciates all the hard work the students and staff have done for session 24/25. I hope the yearbook committee continues on to become the platform for us to appreciate and spotlight the efforts done in years to come. h e a d p h o t o g r a p h e r ( A l i a h ) It has been my greatest pleasure from my team and I to have been able to capture and showcase achievements and moments from all walks of KYS. The yearbook serves as a platform for us to look back and reminisce about the old days in kolej. It is hoped that the yearbook continues to serve its purpose to tailor each student's experiences throughout the many years to come. h e a d d e s i g n e r ( A n g e l i n a ) I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful endeavor. The yearbook serves as a vessel to immortalize cherished memories, celebrate achievements, and showcase the vibrant spirit of our school’s community. I hope the yearbook continues to evolve as a reflection of KYS’ dynamic school culture, capturing the essence of each passing year with creativity and authenticity. I am under Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship and I am currently doing my ALevels in Kolej Tuanku Jaafar taking Economics, Maths, Further Maths and Geography. I am pursuing Economics as a subject for my degree in 2025 in the UK or Australia. The most memorable experience during my time in KYS is spending time with my batchmates and best friends. It could be as simple as having a batch act or eating lunch together. Seeing their faces calms me down especially during examination season as I know that whatever happens, I will always have them by my side through thick and thin. Whenever I see KYS students outside of KYS, I sense one important quality that KYS has embedded in them which is confidence. Confidence which means the confidence to speak, to lead and to have a fulfilling life. The extra co curricular activities offered by KYS definitely moulded myself in becoming who I am today. However, I could not forget the aid given to me by the teacher advisors of each club/uniform body I am in. I used those experiences as lessons in life and to be shared during my scholarship interview. Cherish the time you have left in KYS. Cherish the teachers, the friends and the staff that are always going to have your back no matter what. Make your parents proud as they have spent so much for you to receive a quality education. - Arissa Hani binti Naimi (Xancordis) I'm under Yayasan Khazanah's Global Scholarship currently doing A-Levels at KYUEM. As of right now, I plan on pursuing a degree in Physics & Math and plan on working in either Quantitative Finance or in Theoretical Physics. Hanging out with friends at night and messing around together really helped me get through the tiring schedule in school. There is quite a big workload especially for seniors and it's very important to relax when things get tough. It's a secluded school so the students are less distracted and can focus more on the things they want to do. You're also surrounded by a lot of different people and KYS has an amazing alumni network. KYS really prepares you to face a lot of real world problems. When taking on a leadership role in school, it's important that you're ready to face a lot of problems and are able to take criticism well. I've gotten used to this and it has really helped me stay cool under pressure. Explore new things that are interesting to you. Whether it be taking on a new hobby or learning a subject in depth, asong as it piques your interest, go for it. - Muhammad Adam Zachry bin Mohd Ali (Xancordis) 17 Straight A-ers interview
