October Newsletter

Autumn is here and we have many things to celebrate, including successful
events, news and celebrations.

Please be aware that the clocks go back at 2AM on Sunday 27th October (Night
workers will need to add +1 hours to their timesheets for this shift)

Now that the summer holidays are behind us it’s time to be there for our
service users through the winter months, remembering to the lights on and
close curtains in preparation to the dark nights and ensuring your safety while
getting to and from work... ensure you have torches, appropriate footwear and
allow extra time for the bad weather when travelling. Remember we are always
available if you need to call us at any time.

The Great British Care Awards is an annual event. You will have all been
submitting nominations for your teams, a celebration all of their hard work and
standing out to you as an expert in their field.

They received a massive amount of nominations and we are lucky enough to
receive 5 finalists positions for the event on November 8th.

Tracey McCrohon and Sara Pendlebury.

To find out more about these nominations please take a look at our recent
blog
We have recently attended a number of recruitment events for homecare
workers, residential care workers, registered nurses and also a number of
permanent placements within local care homes whom we work in partnership
with. We will be continuing with our recruitment efforts as well as launching an
exciting new competition for you all to get involved with, where one of you
could win £250 vouchers of your choice in time for Christmas on top of the
recommend a friend rewards.

All you have to do is spread the word about joining our team and the person
with the most interviews held off the back of their recommendation will be the

Join us on 18 October for wear it pink
Every Breast Cancer Awareness Month, wear it pink brings together
thousands of people on one day, all with the same aim – to wear pink, raise
money and help make life-saving breast cancer research happen.
What extra can you add to your uniform to raise awareness while ensuring
infection control is adhered to? Some of our offices will be joining in with
cake sales and games where the proceeds will be split between this charity and
our chosen charity of the year Group B Strep Support.

Hampshire Residential

First of all we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for making
Olivia feel welcome in her new role as coordinator. If you haven’t yet had the
chance to pop in and say hello, then please give her a call as it’s always nice to
put a face to the name.

We have some new care homes now requiring our service after hearing all the
great feedback on how hard you all work, so thank you for this and I hope you
will all give them a try to see if you are a good fit for each other.

We are looking to get as much availability as possible in the lead up to
Christmas so please get in touch with Olivia so she is able to update this to
ensure the right work is found to match your requirements... and don’t forget
to use the app when looking at the work available and making requests.

Our care worker of the month this month is Michael Haywood! Congratulations,
you have consistently worked hard and received great feedback from the care
homes, including your ongoing involvement and proactiveness when on a shift.
Well done Michael

Hampshire Domiciliary

This month we underwent our CQC inspection, this was a scheduled event and
takes place every 3 years.

The inspector came and carried out compliance checks on the records and
evidence of our service users and staff. This is then checked against the 5

We are proud to announce that together as a team we have achieved GOOD for
all 5!!
This is a team effort and we would like to thank every one of you, as it's your
caring nature and commitment that enables us to continue doing the great
work we do and you should all be very proud to say you work for a GOOD
company and played a massive part in achieving this.

On the back of our inspection we also take this opportunity to make
improvements wherever possible, and have recently implemented MCA and
Best Interest assessments which you will be able to access on the care
planning app, accessed through case forms. Please familiarise yourself with
them and feed back if you have any questions.
Congratulations to Jade Winslade who is our Care Worker of the month. Some
of the feedback received from our service users is "how warm and friendly you
are" and that you always come in with a big smile... not to mention that you go
the extra mile with painting their nails, platting their hair and helping them
with applying some makeup for the day. You are a credit to the company and
were very happy that you choose to work for us.
(It's a pity Jades camera shy)

If you haven't already, can you please start thinking about your Christmas
availability and update Kelly at your earliest convenience. Please be reminded
that no holiday will be paid for any time off taken in December.

You may have seen an increase in our recruitment adverts recently, this is due
to an influx in requests for care packages and we have increased our recruiters
to help with the growth. As we are coming up to the winter months, the
pressures to help more with care packages will increase and as a company we
need to ensure we have enough carers to facilitate taking on new packages as
we cannot put service users at risk over the weekends or busy periods. This
will mean that when we have care workers looking for school hours, we try to
take on sitting services to help utilise everyone's availability.

We are also recruiting for highly skilled care workers to work within a new team
for our Rapid Response contract for Portsmouth. This will be full time with
contracted hours, and the role itself will include care delivery as well as
completing assessments and care plans. We are due to start for the winter
months, and we hope to develop this following a successful pilot. for more
information please contact Natalie.

Congratulations on Ashley & Aimee who have both given birth to their bundles
of joy. Enjoy these special moments and cherish every second with them.

The next team meeting is 29th October 10:30-11:30 at our Portchester Office.
If there is anything you would like adding to the agenda please contact Jodie
prior to the meeting.

Petersfield Domiciliary

It has been another very busy month, with new team members and service
users joining us as well as the CQC inspection which is due this week.

Some of you may receive a phone call, however please do not worry about this
as it is a routine visit and they will just ask you a few questions to see how the
service is and the care you provide.

If you have any questions around the inspection then please contact Annette
who will be happy to discuss this further.

You are all excellent care workers and together we make a great team so
fingers crossed it should all go well.

change for workers or the businesses that employ them. The long-term
implications are unclear.
