Our Pastor's Heart
James David Gailliard
Greetings Family, Please mark your calendars for some important dates. My desire is that you
would make an effort to be in the space if you're able. Let's come together to celebrate Christ,
end the year praising and worshipping Him for what's he done and who He is, and then begin
the year preparing for a victorious year! Sincerely, James D. Gailliard

With the new Center for Performing Arts and Worship, and other
added space comes more stewardship. Family, now that we have this
beautiful space that allows us to gather together and reach the
community even more, comes much responsibility. Campus is in
need of volunteers for the Cleaning Crew and Stronghold Keepers
Ministry. The Cleaning Crew provides a clean environment that is
appealing to the eye and sanitary for all who come to worship and
grow. If you have a passion for cleaning, own a cleaning business, or
have some free time, please consider volunteering an hour or more
to help with our buildings.
We also need volunteers to join our stronghold keepers. This
ministry serves as the first contact that members and visitors to
Word Tabernacle encounter. The Keepers are in place as a presence
helping to ensure the safety and security of those who come to
experience God. There will be an interest meeting this Saturday,
December 4th at 10am in the Chapel.
To inquire or volunteer for either ministries, please contact Albert
McWilliams at [email protected] or call (252) 316-8330.
"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the
saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles
and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole
building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you
also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." Ephesians 2:19-22

What is a Co-Working Space?
A co-working space is a place where people can gather to work independently on
different projects or mutual assignments. Most people in a co-working environment
do not work for the same company. People searching for a co-working space look
for wi-fi accessibility, community feel, noise levels, atmosphere, seating options,
locations and other various reasons. The Co-Working Space at The Impact Center
meets these demands. For more information, contact the office, (252) 442-2925.

CHRISTMAS BRINGS HOPE AND HEALING!
Article by Stanley Purvis
Christmas means different things to different people. Many adults reflect upon their childhood memories and
define what Christmas means to them. Memories, whether good or bad, help to shape our perceptions. Some
can remember the trees filled with popcorn garland, tensile, ornaments, and lights.
95 DECISOSSome remember the house decorated inside and out. Some may remember the smells of the Christmas meal,
cakes, pies, and cookies. Others may remember the family gathering and exchanging gifts. As wonderful as
those images in our minds are, not everyone has those incredible memories.
Yes, for some, memories of Christmas are far less than pleasant. They are filled with abuse, pain, depression,
and loneliness. For them, Christmas was and remained far less than a joyous occasion worthy of celebration.
I hope to change that narrative for all who view Christmas as anything but a universal birthday celebration for
the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ.
Hope and healing came to us when Jesus the Christ was born more than two thousand years ago. We learned
that Jesus the Christ was born in Bethlehem in a manger to his earthly parents, Mary and Joseph. We learned
that three wise men brought gifts. There was a “shining star” illuminating that night. There is much more that
deserves the attention of humankind. The name Jesus, Yehoshua in Hebrew, means “Jehovah saves.” Isaiah
9:6 says that He also “will be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince
of Peace.” Jesus the Christ was born in a world riddled with sin and hopelessness. His birth was the ONLY one
that could satisfy the ransom needed for our sins so that we could be free from the bondage of sin. His birth
brought hope to the Jews and Gentiles and you and me. If you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed, unloved,
or hopeless, be encouraged. Not only was love given to the world at Christmas, so was hope that we do not
have to stay in any state that contradicts the gifts that he brought to us on that special day. What gifts might
you ask? Gifts to claim right now are love, joy, peace, and healing. I would be remised not to share the
greatest gift ever given to you.
This gift of hope, love, peace, healing, etc., is the incomparable Jesus Christ. Receive Him today and celebrate
his birth, believing that your life will change for the better. Mine certainly did! Though we Christians celebrate
Jesus Christ every day in our lives, we “light up” and “turn up” the celebration for the world to see during this
season, illuminating our gratitude for “The Gift.” In 2020, Matthew West wrote the song “The Hope of
Christmas,” and I proudly join him in declaring that Jesus Christ is “still hope of Christmas.” Hope and healing
are available to you today. Please accept “The Gift” and have the best Christmas ever!
Merry Christmas!

that special day."

BUILDING BONDS & SENSORY SKILLS
What have our preschool students been up to since their parade of
costumes? The four year-old class jumped into the week with
some fun learning with Pumpkin slime! Working with different
textures and senses helps to build fine motor skills, gives them
tactile sensory experience, and is a great calming method and
helps children stay focused. While our three year-olds were
building both fine-motor and social skills, open ended questions
were asked to promote creative thinking and learning.
Do you ever use sensory bins at home? You can create this activity
for your young ones right in your home. Simply dump some rice or
beans in a bin, give some random tools, and let the discovery
begin. It's easy and fun!
There are so many opportunities for learning. During one of our
drop-offs, one of our students felt the absence of their mother.
Three of his friends ran over and embraced him, comforted him,
and welcomed him back to school. Preschoolers attending The
Impact Academy get to experience the value of building bonds and
having safe spaces where they can develop emotionally and
socially. The children learn empathy and are here to support one
another. Their classmates and schoolmates have become their
friends and family.
If you have friends and family with children that are preschool age,
encourage them to register now so they can get on our waiting list.

YOUTH INVESTORS
NEEDED TO SERVE
Investors are the core serving team for the next generation ministries. Investors sustain the
ongoing small groups, Bible studies, social events, and other Next Gen programs. Being an
investor isn't about investing money. It is about investing yourself. Investors don't volunteer or
work. Investors invest their gifts, talents, skill sets, love, and ourselves in to a generation that
will give a great return on our investment. The return is seen when they thrive in the areas of
Faith, Family, Fitness, and Finances.
