Mokolodi Nature Reserve

Mokolodi Nature Reserve is situated in a magnificent
5,000 hectare acacia bushveld valley, just 15 kilometres
south of Botswana’s capital city, Gaborone. It is home
to a wide variety of indigenous wild game, bird and
reptile species, some of which are rare and vulnerable
to the threat of extinction.

The reserve was established by the Mokolodi Wildlife
Foundation in 1994 and serves as a protected
environmental and conservation education area
placed in trust for the children of Botswana. The
nation’s president, His Excellency, Lt. Gen. Seretse
Khama Ian Khama, is the foundation’s Patron.

The nature reserve sees over 35,000 people-a-year
pass through its gates. Mokolodi is also home to the
headquarters of Cheetah Conservation Botswana,
a local NGO which strives to address human/
predator conflict via its own specialized community
conservation and education programmes.
