FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK...........

Dear Parents & Caregivers

Well the final week of Term 1 has crept up very quickly. There have been many
highlights throughout the term. Thank you to all parents & caregivers for the support
you have given your children and their teachers by working together to help improve
achievement and provide opportunities beyond the classroom.

Special thanks to everyone who was involved with the Room Whio camp especially the
teachers, Amy Kerslake and Keren Copeland, and our team of seven parent helpers; Grant
Loader, Linnet Burns, Valerie Byrne, Melanie McIntyre, Angela Moore, Blair Murdoch and
Jason Nicol. The students were very lucky to have such a fantastic group of adults supporting
them.

We have some property projects on the go at the moment. The hedge will be
trimmed, there will be a higher fence with shade cloth on it put up along 20m of
the west boundary, the tennis court lines will be painted and we will begin
using the new workspace and toilet area - how exciting!

Congratulations to last week’s winner of the Principal’s Award
for Caring, Hamish McIntyre. Hamish has demonstrated all of
our school values well throughout the term, especially
Respect. He is such a friendly and helpful boy.

School uniform survey: By far the majority of respondents ticked that our uniform
bottom half requirement be navy or black. The Board of Trustees agrees that this is the
best option and have decided that from the start of Term 2 students must wear navy or
black clothing on their bottom half. While the majority of parents are already dressing
their children in these colours, if you need to buy navy or black clothing there are some
very cheap places to purchase these. I see online that Postie Plus has $6 trackpants
and $7 shorts! If you are unable to source navy or black clothing items, please let us
know and we may be able to assist.

Good luck to those children who are taking part in special events over the next two
weeks eg:- Maggie Fleming off to Masterton for athletics.

ANZAC Day falls during the term break and families are warmly encouraged to
attend the service at the Woodlands memorial at 8am. Maggie and Tamzin will
lay our school wreath wearing their school uniforms. Other children attending
might like to wear their uniforms too.

Have a happy, restful term break.

Regards

Fiona

Parents, please let the school know when your child is absent. When a child is not at
school, and we don’t know why, Nicky has to spend quite a bit of time ringing
parents. This is a “must do” for the safety of your children. If ringing the school is
not always the easiest option, you can email [email protected] or
text us on 027 758 1503.

Thank you to everyone who supported the PTA by selling
Easter raffle cards – a profit of over $1300!!

The Big Book we shared in our classroom was called ‘Bubble Trouble’.
Monkey told Crocodile not to blow a bubble because bubbles are trouble but Crocodile didn’t listen.

We drew pictures of Crocodile blowing a bubble and wrote a caption to go with our pictures.
