Inthecoolofthenightasthestarstwinkledabove,thetwoworkedtogethersidebyside,sharingtheir
thoughtsinundertonesastheanimalsofthedarkwentabouttheirbusiness,somehoppingandcroaking
whileotherswhistledandwhizzedby.
Sweatdrenchedtheirthincottonshirtsastheycarriedrocksfrom theriverwhichshimmeredandhummed
amerrytuneinthesoftlightofthemoon.Thedistancetotravelwasgreat.Thesteep,unforgivinghillsof
theJunctionwentupandupandthenupsomemore.Thenarrow littlefootpathwascoveredwith
pebblesthatthreatenedtotakeone’sfooting.
Butthecamaraderiethetwosharedmadetheworkallthatmucheasier.
Theywerebuildingahousefortheboy’smother,wayoveryonder.Loveanddedicationprovidedthe

quickly,astimewasoftheessence.
Hisheartbledinhischestandhefeltsuffocatedbyeachbreaththathetookwhilemullingoverthesitua-
tion.
Helovedtheboyendlessly-therewasonlyonethingtodo.Sendhim awayinlove.
Believingthatwhateverisjoinedbylovecanneverbebroken,despitethedistanceandhardships,hewent
togreatlengthstosecuredocumentsandsilenceandputtheboyonaflighttoanothercontinent.Many
moonsfollowedanddespondent,hestillcouldnotenjoyeating.Hedreamtoftheboyandhiswalksby
theriverbroughtbeautifulmemoriesbutalsotearsashemissedhiscompanionsomuch....

Sixteenyearslater,withoutwarning,justafewdaysafterFather’sDay2018,theboy,nowahighlyaccom-
plishedyoungmanwhowasversedinasecondlanguageandhighlyexposedtointernationalcultureswas
onhisdoorstepwithoutawarning.Theoldman’smouthdroppedwideopen,thenhesimplygaveupon
strugglingtofindwords.Tearsflowed,washingawayallthepainoftheyearsinbetween,instantly
bridgingsixteenyearsagotonow.Lovehadmadetimeanddistanceofnoimportance.
Hewashighonemotions,sohighhehadtojustgoforawalktosomewhere.Anywhere.Heforgoteven

tantforwell-beingandhappiness.Whenwewear/displayteam symbolswehaveaninstant
connectionwithourfellow fans:itisanindicationthatwesharevalues,aswellaspositive
andnegativeexperiences.
Researchershavefoundthatteam supportersshow areducedsenseofisolationandloneliness,
andhigherlevelsofcollectiveself-esteem andpositiveemotions,comparedtopeerswhoare
notteam fans.

Soitseemsallthisenthusiasm isgoodforus,sociallyandindividually.Whichisagreatthing,

tectedhim.NowthatmyheadisclearandIam nolongerheldprisonerbysuicidemessages;
now thatIam awayfrom theinfluenceofhisfriendsandrelatives,now iswhenIseethe
graveerrorofwhatIdid.Andtheregretisgreat.
Iprotectedhim justsothathecouldreturntoabusememore,thistimeinawaythatnoone
saw,butinawaythatdamagedmymind,ateatmysoulandnegativelyimpactedmyoverall
health.
Heleftnoevidenceforanyonetocommentonthistime,butthefinancial,psychologicaland
emotionalabusehasliterallykilledme.

EventhoughIknowthatthemostdangeroustimeiswhenavictim leaves/speaksout,Ican’t
goonlikethis.
Inanycase,Iwilldieonedayortheother.Againstlivingtoaripeoldage,thegreaterprob-
