Buddha Stupa Sarnath is one such tour. Sarnath is located at a distance of 10 Km
from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. After attaining nirvana, the Buddha went to
Sarnath.
It is said that Lord Buddha visited Sarnath looking for his five companions who left
him in Rajgir while they deviated from the viewpoint of Lord Buddha on self-
mortification. Buddha delivered his first sermon here in Deer Park. King Ashoka,
who spread the Buddha’s message of love and compassion throughout his vast
empire, visited Sarnath around 234 BC and built a stupa there. Several Buddhist
structures were raised at Sarnath between the 3rd century BC and the 11th century
AD, and today it presents the most expansive ruins among places on the Buddhist
trail.
