1.0 INTRODUCTION

Mardhiyyah Hotel and Suites, the country’s latest 5-star Shariah-compliant
international hotel, is set to open its doors to guests by early 2021 and the hotel was
formerly known as the Grand Blue Wave Hotel Shah Alam was named as a winner for the
Platinum Category Muslim Friendly Accommodation Recognition (MFAR) by Malaysian
Tourism, Arts and Culture ministry through Islamic Tourism Centre, the brand name
Mardhiyyah, an Arabic word which means The One Whom God is Pleased With, was mooted
by owner Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed Rafik bin Haji Mohd Idris, Managing Director of
Mardhiyyah Hotel Sdn Bhd.

The hotel is strategically located in the heart of the capital city of Shah Alam,
Selangor, Mardhiyyah Hotel and Suites is just minutes away from the city’s tourist
attractions, main shopping malls, popular parks and also key government offices , the hotel
has been extensively refurbished and elegantly enhanced to cater to the rising demand for
excellent hospitality services in the vicinity. The lobby’s welcoming ambience sets the tone
for a truly memorable hotel experience.Meanwhile, the busy professionals can opt to attend
to any urgent matters at the hotel’s business centre situated at the Lobby area , In creating
an exceptional culinary experience for guests, the hotel, which leads in the halal restaurant
concept, not only serves sumptuous spreads but also stunning dining spaces. The signature
Royale Songket Restaurant features a classic traditional-meets-modern ambience that
complements the lavish international menu and creative Japanese fine cuisine being served
and the MFAR platinum award recognize as a Muslim friendly concept hotel with shariah-
compliant equipment and facilities. As a Muslim friendly tourist attraction, it has halal
restaurants with certified by JAKIM, recognize chefs, and information on mosque locations.

2.0 Muslim friendly basic service, facilities and products provided at the place.

better is that the spa is only available for women and this is one example of Muslim-
friendly because there is segregation of women and men. For information, this spa
specifically for women is located at Level 4, Mardhiyyah Hotel & Suites, Shah Alam and
this spa is named Bayu Spa. So with facilities like this, I feel this hotel is very worthwhile
and safer and Muslim friendly.

14. Swimming pool and gym (separate times for men and women
a) It is very important to separate and isolate women and men who are foreigners and it is

important to avoid especially Muslim tourists. So with a solution like this, it gives many
benefits to the tourists who come to stay there. This Mardiyyah hotel has different slots
for women and men in the swimming pool and also the gym according to the time set
by the hotel. This is one of the hotels that gives importance to the concept of Islam and
this should be exemplified by every hotel, especially the hotels in Malaysia.

15. Prayer Room
a) Surau Al-Latifah also is one of the facilities at Mardiyyah Hotel which is located at level

4, has a wide space for prayer, place to take ablution and have a clear speaker system.

3.0 Conclusion and Suggestion

In conclusion, there are many advantages and facilities provided at Mardiyyah Hotel,
for example, the private bathroom and toilet at Mardiyyah Hotel are very clean and spacious,
providing comfort to the tourists who come to stay there So the tourists will feel more
comfortable during their stay at the hotel.This is because the cleanliness and comfort in
each room is very important for the hotel to provide in each hotel. In addition, one of the
advantages of this hotel is that it has IDD, which is International Direct Dialing which means
this hotel can connect with foreign tourists so this is one of the ways to promote this
Muslim-friendly hotel to other countries so that it is known to the world stage. Next, this
hotel also has high speed internet access, data port for free and this provides facilities for
tourists who come to access faster and free WIFI.

Among them there is also Satellite TV, advanced phone system and this makes it
easier for tourists who are staying to communicate directly with the counter or with the
hotel management if there is any problem or question from the room only without going to
the counter. Apart from that, this hotel has coffee and tea making facilities that help tourists
make hot water if they want to make water and this is one of the benefits so that tourists
don't feel thirsty if they want to make their own water and provide convenience to tourists.
Besides that, a Minibar is also provided in this hotel for anyone who wants to drink a variety
of drinks but this minibar is also separated from the room or dining area and helps all
tourists who come regardless of religion so this makes it easier for tourists who are looking
for a drink without having to travel far from the hotel.

Next again, this is one example of a hotel that is rare in Malaysia because this hotel
has a Personal safe in the room. This can help travelers feel safer because they can keep
money in a safe place in the event of an unwanted incident such as a robbery or a fire in the
hotel. What is even more interesting is that Guests will be pampered with full butler service
and extra touches such as body massage and skin smoothing for women only and this is one
of the Muslim friendly because this massage is done and isolated for women only and
benefits female tourists. So, This is one of the interesting advantages in one of the Malaysian
hotels for your knowledge. In addition, Visitors will be treated to a spectacular sunset view.
For everyone's knowledge, when it's time to see the sunrise, tourists can enjoy food while

month of Ramadan which are always held in the said hall. This is because this hotel is very
large, worthwhile and of good quality in that place and is suitable for the celebration of any
relevant event.In addition, this hotel has enough guest rooms with Al-Quran and prayer rugs.
This hotel is indeed Muslim friendly because they provide items for Muslim tourists to easily
perform worship. This is because maybe some tourists who do not have time to bring their
prayer items can use the facilities provided. This is one of the solution steps especially for
Muslim tourists in the hotel Mardiyyah.

Next, the advantage of this Mardiyyah hotel is also because it has a spa for women
only. This is because it is rare for this hotel in Malaysia to provide spa services for women.
This is very good because tourists, especially women, can relax without worrying about the
isolation of the place for women and safer. So this is also one of the advantages of this
Mardiyyah hotel because it is one of the Muslim-friendly hotels in this hotel. Finally, the
good thing about this hotel is the swimming pool and gym (separate times for men and
women). This is very important because female and male tourists should he so this is one of
the solutions that can be done by the hotel, which is to have different time slots to avoid
clashes and sharing of use for male and female tourists. All the advantages and Muslim
friendliness in Mardiyyah hotels should be done by all hotels in Malaysia nowadays because
the majority religion in Malaysia is Islam so that every hotel is worth staying including non-
Muslims also get benefits without discrimination.

SUGGEST OTHER MUSLIM FRIENDLY SERVICES, FACILITIES AND PRODUCTS THAT THE
MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO IMPROVE FOR MUSLIM CONSUMERS
1. Providing prayer mats, Al-Quran, Qibla direction and other prayer equipment in each
hotel room.
2. Do not provide alcoholic beverages and mini bars in the hotel.
3. Provide private bath and sauna for ladies.
4. Do not broadcast adult channels.
5. Provide a special restaurant for family in order to strengthen family ties.
