The heady excitement of Chanukah lingers in our hearts and minds as the 4:11 ‫זמן הדלקת נרות‬
talmidim are settling into the routine of the winter zman with refreshed ‫כוחות‬
and renewed energy.
Our Chanukah chaggigos and mesibos were jam packed with fun and delight and
the joyous dancing and achdus will be warmly remembered during the cold
months ahead.

Lessons From the Parsha…

As Klal Yisroel faces difficult times, perhaps we can take some comfort from this week's Parsha. The Posuk states:

)‫ה‬.‫”ועתה ַאל תעצבּו וַאל יחר בעיניכם כי מכרתם אתי הנה כי למחיה שלחני אלקים לפניכם" (מה‬

“But now do not be sad, and let it not trouble you that you sold me here, for it was to preserve life that Hashem sent me
before you.”

HaGaon Rav Simcha Sheps explained that Yosaif was teaching us here an important lesson in ‫ הכרת הטוב‬-
appreciating the good that is done for us. Although one may, at times, feel that his troubles are only getting worse and worse,
and that the good things that are going for him are becoming so outnumbered, it is his duty to look beyond the surface and
see the good that is lying behind the troubles. As Chazal say:ָּ):‫ ' ָכּלָּ ָמּהָּ ָדּ ָעּ ָבּידָּ ָרּ ָּח ָמּנאָּ ָלּ ָּטבָּ ָעּ ָּביד'ָּ(ברכותָּס‬- Everything that the
Ribono Shel Olam does is for good. Nothing coming from Hashem could be evil, as the posuk states: ָּ‫"טֹובָּה'ָּ ָּל ָכּלָָּוּ ָּר ָּח ָמּיוָּ ָּעלָּ ָּכל‬
)‫ ָמּ ָּע ָּשיו"ָּ(תהליםָּקמה‬-ָּ Hashem is good to everyone. Even when the situation seems to be bleak: ָּ"‫ "ָוּ ָעּתָּ ָצּ ָרּהָּ ָּהיאָּ ָלָּיּ ָּעקֹב‬-
Hashem is ready to save us from it –"ּ‫ "ּו ָּמ ָמּנהָָּּיָּו ָּש ָע‬. It is from that very anguish that Hashem draws the good!

This, explained Rav Sheps, was what Yosaif was telling his brothers. Don’t be sad, for what seemed to you to have
been the greatest nightmare was actually predisposed to being the greatest salvation for Klal Yisroel!

Rabbi Pearl’s class
performing for Holocaust
Survivors on Chanukah.

In true Torah Temimah Fashion, our talmidim were treated to the most amazing and engaging Channukah Chagigos,
individually tailored to each division.

Our preschool stars were enthralled by the amazing feats of juggling and illusion by JUGGLING MOSHE! Some of the older
grades were able to enjoy this special treat as well. A very special Mommy and Me activity was shared in our Nursery
class. Morah Hindy and the morahs outdid themselves in preparation, and the decorated classroom and unique take
home gifts were admired and appreciated by all the mommies and kinderlach.

The piles of great prizes and fascinating games kept our younger elementary grades on their toes at their chagigah as well
as an entertaining story by our own Rabbi Pearl!!

Our older elementary school grades enjoyed a fantastic mesibah of their own which featured a special visit by Rabbi
Finkel who shared Channukah stories, extraordinary array of prizes and lively dancing in the gym.

Our bochurim were pumped at our Mesibas Channukah held for the Mesivta. After a festive Seudas Mitzvah, Divrei Torah
from some bochurim, and a special address by Rabbi Basch, the dancing commenced led by Shloime Tausig and an
energetic band. The singing and dancing was incredible, followed by a kumzitz full of warmth and dveikus.

Thank you to the menahalim, Rabbeim and Moros for all the extra hard work in arranging the details of all these events.
