The ‫ נס פורים‬came to life at Torah Temimah as our younger 6:44 ‫זמן הדלקת נרות‬
elementary school grades were treated to real pony rides along
with an exciting petting zoo. Purim is in the air with music, singing
and dancing emanating from every classroom. Through it all, we do
not lose sight of the true ‫ קמו וקבלו‬and all the festivities only serve
to increase our ‫ למוד התורה‬and '‫עבודת ה‬.

Lessons From the Parsha…

"‫ "ויקרא אל משה‬the ‫ ילקוט‬says that the reason why the ‫ תינוקות של בית רבן‬start with ‫ חומש ויקרא‬and not ‫חומש‬
‫ בראשית‬which is the beginning of the Torah is because in ‫ ויקרא‬we learn about ‫ קרבנות‬which is only ‫בהמות טהורים‬.
Therefore ‫יבואו טהורים ויעסקו בטהורים‬. The ‫ תינוקות של בית רבן‬who are ‫ טהורים‬should learn about ‫טהורים‬.
In the Sefer ‫עלינו לשבח‬, the author brings a ‫שאלה‬. Is one allowed to learn with ‫ תשב"ר‬the ‫ א"ב‬on ‫תשעה בעב‬
since the ‫ איסור‬of learning on ‫ תשעה באב‬is because "‫ ?"פקודי ה' ישרים משמחי לב‬He concludes that it is ‫ אסור‬because
every letter of ‫ קדושת התורה‬brings much ‫שמחה‬.
Rav Elyashiv ‫ זצ"ל‬was once waiting to write an ‫ אות‬in a Sefer Torah. He had one minute waiting time and in
that one minute he looked in the ‫ אותיות‬in the Sefer Torah as not to cause any ‫ביטול תורה‬. In these ‫ימי הפורים‬, when
we accept the ‫ תורה בשמחה‬as the ‫ פסוק‬says "‫ "ליהודים היתה אורה‬and Torah is ‫אורה‬. We have to strengthen our
learning Torah with ‫ שמחה‬starting from the ‫ תשב"ר‬with ‫ א"ב‬and continuing to all levels of Torah.

‫שבע‬-‫לזכות רפואה שלימה חי' מלכה בת בת‬

Is it permissible to squeeze liquid from a fruit or other food?
One may not squeeze juice or any liquid from a food on Shabbos. However, this prohibition is applicable only if one is
squeezing the food for the purpose of having the juice. Therefore, if one’s intention is to remove the liquid from the food

because the liquid is not desired (e.g. removing excess oil from cooked food), or if the juice is only incidentally extracted
(e.g. while slicing a fruit) then it is permitted.1

If a fruit is being squeezed so that its juice will enhance a solid food (e.g. lemon juice to enhance a slice of fish or a salad),

the fruit may be juiced directly onto the food. Additionally, if one wishes to add lemon juice to another liquid (e.g. tea), the

lemon may be squeezed onto a solid such as sugar (not honey) which is then added to the liquid, provided that the juice

becomes mostly absorbed into the sugar.

Note: The following further restrictions included in the prohibition of sorting (Borer) are common with squeezing lemons:

 It is not permissible to use a net when squeezing the lemon to capture the pits.

 If one is squeezing a lemon onto sugar and a lemon pit falls onto the sugar, many Poskim forbid the removal of

the pit even if a small amount of sugar is removed with it. Rather, the pit should be removed with a significant

amount of sugar surrounding it, or one should remove the sugar from the pit.

 Squeezing an entire lemon may be a transgression of Borer. Therefore, this should only be done for immediate

use (e.g. for a tea that will be drunk immediately or during the meal immediately following). Similarly, one

should only squeeze an entire lemon for lemonade if the resulting drink will be completely finished immediately,

or within the meal immediately following.
Is it permissible to hold a grape or olive in one’s hand and suck out its juice?
In terms of squeezing, grapes and olives are in a unique category and it is therefore preferable not to do so. However, one
may suck out the juice once the grape or olive is in one’s mouth. The juice of all other fruits is permitted to be sucked even
when the fruit is held in one’s hand.

MY BLESSINGS OF A DAY
Did you ever stop to think how so we thank Hashem for constantly giving and giving us everything we need
every single day? We will begin by writing a memo each day about all the wonderful things we receive. We
want to show appreciation to Hashem. We hope to be worthy of being blessed forever and ever.
I always say Modeh Ani and thank Hashem that I am living another day. Today was special I woke up, ate
breakfast and went to the bus. When I got to Yeshiva I had so much energy and strength to daven and learn.
Then at the end f Hebrew, Hashem made we win a two liter bottle!
