Dear Parents ‫עמו"ש‬, ‫פרשת חיי שרה‬
‫שבת מברכים חודש כסלו‬
This was a difficult week for all of ‫כלל ישראל‬. As Yidden we are ‫נושא‬
‫ בעול‬and so we absorb and reflect on the terrible happenings and share the 5:33 ‫זמן הדלקת נרות‬
pain of ‫אחינו בני ישראל‬. Together, we daven to our true ‫ שומר ישראל‬to protect us
and all of ‫ כלל ישראל‬and reaffirm our '‫ עבודת ה‬as we await the ‫גאולה שלמה‬. INSIDE:

At the same time we must take all reasonable steps to secure our MESSAGE FROM
yeshivos and shuls and make every ‫ השתדלות‬to ensure that out talmidim are MRS. POMERANTZ
safe and secure when they are in yeshiva. Recent upgrades to our security
equipment as well as consultation with security experts in the last few days are PRE-SCHOOL
among the many actions the yeshiva has undertaken to enhance our physical PARSHA ACTIVITIES
security in a responsible manner.
YESHIVA
The ‫ רוח‬and vibrant energy of ‫ למוד התורה‬was undiminished as renewed SHACHARIS MINYON
energies were applied by Rabbeim, Moros and teachers to continue the
enthusiastic start of the winter ‫ זמן‬just a few weeks ago. The ‫ פרשה‬comes alive
in the younger grades with hands on learning and demonstrations while our
serious young Mesivta bochurim pass by the hallways engaged in torah
discussions.

We look forward to a restful Shabbos and a week of ,‫בשורות טובות‬
‫ הצלחה‬and ‫!נחת‬

Lessons From the Parsha…

"‫"ויתן אברהם את כל אשר לו ליצחק‬

There was once a king who had a beautiful orchard. He entrusted his loyal servant with its care. His servant once found
two trees tightly intertwined. One tree bore beautiful nutritious fruit. The other tree’s fruit were poisonous. The servant was
perplexed. “If I water the good tree, then that will also help the poison one to grow, but if I don’t water the tree the good tree
will also die. He then comforted himself and said, “ I am only a worker here. I will do what I am instructed to do and the owner
will make the final decision.

‫ אברהם אבינו‬found himself with this dilemma should I give my ‫ ברכות‬to ‫ יצחק‬and not ‫ישמעאל‬. It will hurt his feelings.
‫ אברהם‬gave his possessions to ‫ יצחק‬but not his ‫ברכות‬. He said let Hashem do what he wants.
‫ אברהם'ס ברכה‬was not a small matter. The future of ‫ כלל ישראל‬depended on these ‫ברכות‬. Could ‫ אברהם‬risk the future of ‫כלל‬
‫ ישראל‬because of the hurt feelings of ‫?ישמעאל‬

However, as the great Reb Yisroel Salanter said our obligation is not to achieve and accomplish. We have to try and do
the '‫ רצון ה‬to the best of our ability. The rest is up to the will of '‫ה‬. We cannot violate any ‫הלכה‬, Mitzvos or ‫ דרך ארץ‬no matter
how urgent the cause is. If we evaluate every situation this way we will be ‫ זוכה‬to make the correct decisions which will be a
great ‫ זכות‬for ‫כלל ישראל‬.

As we inculcate in them that Torah is the best ‫…סחורה‬

They’re already great WINNERS

Each one is a special treasure.

May ‫ השי"ת‬watch over each of these precious ‫נשמה'לעך‬
And give you great Yiddish nachas, beyond measure!
May this Chanukah be an illuminating one filled with light and joy
For you and your dear Mishpacha and your de”light”ful Temimah

Are candles Muktze?

Is it permissible to read in a dark room by the light of oil candles?
According to many Poskim, one should not read in a dark room by the light of oil candles or wax candles that melt into liquid. Similarly, one should not
use the candlelight for anything that needs a precise view, such as to check Tzitzis, unless there is a shomer available to ensure that the candles will not
be adjusted in any way.
