Dear Parents עמו"ש, פרשת וישב
The spirit of Chanukah is crackling thru the air at Torah Temimah as the 4:11 זמן הדלקת נרות
talmidim and staff anticipates the approaching Yom tov. The Chanukah music
heard from our preschool classrooms sets the mood as boxes of exciting prizes INSIDE:
and games are being delivered daily to the building as we prepare for the
upcoming Chanukah חגיגות. The regular limudim and classes take on a special Chanukah
energy as everyone is in a buoyant mood. Schedule
We were once again encouraged by the enthusiastic participation of our parents in 3rd Grade
the general studies PTA this week. Thank you to the teachers and principals who התחלת משניות
made tremendous effort to prepare the rooms and hallways with informative and Pre School
decorative displays. Chanukah Prep!
A special thank you to our building manager Mr. Yehuda Berman for
preparing the building and ensuring that the refreshments were fresh and plentiful
to enhance the evening.

Lessons From the Parsha…
By: HaRav Avi Pearl
One day, during the 4:30 dismissal, a boy from the first grade approached me with a question. “Rabbi Pearl, why do you
always stand at the front of the line and wish each boy a good night?” I was too busy at that moment to give him a full answer,
but I would like to explain it to you now.
' הtold "ואברכך מברכך" – אברהם אבינו, and I will בענטשanyone that gives you a ברכה. We see from the גמראin .חולין מט
that this applies to all of כלל ישראלas well. If someone gives a ברכהto any yid, ' הwill בענטשhim.
Telling a boy in Yeshiva, “Good night” is wishing him that he should have a good night. You are giving another yid a ברכהand
' הwill בענטשyou in return.
יוסף הצדיקwas in jail with the שר המשקיםand the שר האופים. One morning he noticed that they did not look well and
asked them, “What’s wrong? Can I help you?”
Look what happened from this question. Let us examine what occurred when יוסףtook notice of someone that did not
look well. יוסףinterpreted their dream and then interpreted the dreams of פרעה. This led him to be released from jail and to
become the assistant to the king.
Boys, we have many opportunities to show concern and cheer up our friends. Let us look around and see whom we can
help and make our friends feel better. In this זכותyou should all be געבענטשט.
I wish you all a “Good Shabbos”.

Is it permissible for a woman to wear a rain bonnet outside an eruv if it is raining or snowing? Is it permissible for her to wear a rain
bonnet even if it is not presently raining or snowing, but she is worried that it may start while she is out?
Is it permissible to wear an oversized coat outside an eruv if it is the only coat available, or to protect one’s feet from the rain?
V’Sein Tal u’Matar:
Outside of Eretz Yisroel, V’Sein Tal u’Matar is begun to be said during Maariv on the 4th day of December1. If this was forgotten, the
following action should be taken according to the specific circumstance:
If one remembered before concluding the bracha of “Bareich Aleinu”, V’Sein Tal u’Matar l’Vrocha should be said. The last
portion of the bracha, “Uvareich Shnaseinu”, must be said together with the conclusion of the bracha. Therefore, if one realized
the error in middle of “Uvareich Shnaseinu”, one should insert V’Sein Tal u’Matar and continue with the entire segment of
“Uvareich Shnaseinu” before concluding the bracha.
If the entire bracha of Baruch Aleinu has been concluded, V’Sein Tal u’Matar l’Vrocha should be said in the bracha of “Shma
Koleinu” before “Ki Ata Shomea”.
If the mispallel has already concluded the bracha of “Shma Koleinu” but the word “Retzeh” of the next bracha has not yet been
said, “V’Sein Tal u’Matar l’Vrocha” should be said. If “Retzeh” was already said, he/she must go back to the bracha of “Bareich
Aleinu” and continue in order from there.
If the “Yihyu l’Ratzon” prior to “Oseh Shalom” was already said, Shmona Esreh must be repeated.
After the conclusion of davening, if one is unsure whether V’Sein Tal u’Matar was said, if it is within thirty days or ninety recitals
of Shmona Esreh, the Shmona Esreh must be repeated.
The brachos on lightning, thunder and a rainbow:
The bracha on lightning, “Oseh Maaseh Breishis”, and thunder, “Shekocho u’Gvuraso Maleh Olam”, should be said immediately
(toch kiday dibur) upon seeing lightning and hearing thunder.
If one saw lightning and heard thunder simultaneously, the bracha “Oseh Maaseh Breishis” should be recited on both.
If the sky cleared and newly formed clouds once again caused lightning / thunder, or if the original storm continued into the next
day, the bracha should be repeated.
If a rainbow shaped as full half circle is sighted, the bracha of “Zocher HaBris“ is recited. One should not gaze at a rainbow, nor
should one notify others about the presence of the rainbow. Similarly, one should not gaze at the moon.
